I CANNOT play any music downloaded from my computer. Anyone have any tips?

I have Windows ME, so there's only certain music sites that will work with it. The ones that I've tried download only Windows Media files. I can then save them and burn them to a CD but they are unreadable by my G35 stereo. I can play the CD on my computer, but not in my car. I'm not sure why. I've been using Walmart's site - $.88 per song, but I've also tried a couple others.

Thanks!

Change the windows media files to wav. files or Mp3. I suggest wav. files so the laser dont burn out on the cd player. Do a search on the net and download a program that changes to wav. file or go to www.limewire.com it is a free download share of music and programs.

IMHO.

Don't convert WMA to WAV. The resulting files will be very large and will defeat the purpose of the WMA format - small space for good quality music. Instead of fitting ~100+ songs per CD you'll get 15-20 depending on the length of the tune. Bad ju-ju.

The manual for the 05 states that WMA is compatible - so it may well be a burning issue. What / how are you burning your music? The format you're choosing could be the culprit. What program are you using to burn?

And yes - this is off-topic, but so are about 50% of the other threads that are posted here. I've given up on accuracy and started focusing on content. LOL..

05 Stereo
The maximum bitrate for WMA on the 05 stereo is 192kb (it is in the manual, and 320kb for MP3s.

It is not a hard limit (at least for WMA VBR), but I have had songs that say UNPLAYABLE on the display, and had to re-rip some of my collection for compatibility.

That being said, I use my CD player much more now (vs. 02 Maxima SE) since I can have ~6-8 CDs of music in the changer. I went from 3 kids CDs, to just 1, and much more music for me.
