Is it safe to drive?
I will be picking up my car tonight and planning to go on a long trip tomorrow (about 700miles). Is it safe? to do higway miles right off the bat on the car or should I do some local driving for few days?
yea it is safe...
Do not worry about it.. They typically tell you to stay in 4000 rpms for the 1st 1200 miles... Should be easy enough since you are turning about 3000 at 75 or so. As long as you do that you are fine. I would vary speed perhaps, but I think that is an old wive's tale. Just be easy on it RPMs wise and brakes wise.

You'll be fine. Depending on your perspective, if you follow the break-in procedures you can drive non-stop from day one if you choose - no problems.
I would have preferred a long trip the day after I got my G - it would have made the blasted break-in go faster.

you shouldn't worry. i just recently drove from virginia to texas with girlfriend of mine that just bought a new coupe and we had absolutely no issues. the dealer probably already told you just don't break or accelerate to hard until you hit 1200, but you'll be alright.

Something that bothers me about the break-in recommendations: the manual suggests no hard braking. Driving in morning/evening rush hour traffic makes that kinda hard to avoid.

I think they are trying to keep you from abusing the brakes (as is very easy to do in this car...).
