Pesti, what time of day was it? What was the temperature? Air temp can make a difference, especially since Palmdale is in the desert... very hot in the daytime (slower ET) and quite chilly at night (faster ET).

Re: Stock 5A sedan quarter mile times?

I'm in Kansas City, KS and I believe the elevation is around 3000 ft. When I went it was in the 60's I believe with low humidity. Our track had just been resurfaced but needed to get some rubber down for better traction. I haven't been back in awhile and will probably wait till fall arives since it gets very humid around here in the summer. The best launch technique I use is to brake torque to around 1200 then as the yellows start that is when you mash the throttle and will get a launch around 3500. I try to go on the last yellow( .500 tree) but I am still trying to work on my RT since I am not used to an auto.

Re: Stock 5A sedan quarter mile times?

My wifes 02 SE Maxima (Auto with Frankencar CAI) ran a low 14.5 at NE Dragway last year...it ran about 5 14.6s and one 14.7 on my younger brother's first ever pass...supposedly those 02-03 3.5 VQ Engines aren't even 255 bhp so I would hope my G35 can best 14.5 with a little more hp and a lot more torque...I just brought the rpms up to 1750 or so and mashed it with the stock bridgestone potenzas...

Re: Stock 5A sedan quarter mile times?

Here's the info on my fastest 1/4 mile:

Reaction Time = .623
60' = 2.281
330' = 6.323
1/8 mile = 9.566 @ 76.06
1000' = 12.345
1/4 mile = 14.664 @ 97.12

I think my launches were way too slow, and I felt I was being too patient for the green. By that I mean I could tell that some of the more experienced drivers were actually launching before the green ever came on. I'll have to try and "cheat" the light next time like these other guys and see what a difference it makes.

From what I understand of the process, 'cheating' only lowers reaction times not et's dude.
You're gonna have to go to something like brake torquing,(or higher rpm launch), slicks, or more HP to turn quicker times. Clock doesn't start 'till you roll out of the beams.

Cool man. That's what I thought. I did get new wheels and tires that might help a bit since I last went. New wheel/tire combo is 9 lbs. lighter per wheel than stock, not to mention an inch wider.

9 lbs. lighter than stock. LOL

9 lb. wheels would be pretty sweet. I got Enkei RP02-J 17x8 and I put Goodyear Eagle F1 255/45/17s on them.

Stock wheel/tire weight was 53 lbs.
New wheel/tire weight is 44 lbs.

Re: Bosssho

That is what they say but the 02/03 were underated in the torque area, several people have dynoed them to around 270 l/b of torque. Go to Maxima.org and check it out.

Re: Bosssho

lead_foot,

This was already said, but just to reiterate, a lower reaction time only counts with ego and when racing someone else heads up or in bracket racing (when you each dial in a time and if you are 2 seconds quicker on your dial in, than I would get the green light 2 seconds quicker to compensate and make all things equal). So, if you are just racing against the clock, you could literally fall asleep and then go and it won't do a thing against your time. FWIW, if you do want to cut a great light, when the 2nd yellow light starts to go out and the 3rd light starts to come on...launch. You will be in the .500-.650 range which is really good. BTW, your trap speed is a lot better than my wifes 02 Maxima which means the extra horspower is showing up, but you just have to get your 60' time down...this is all about traction and launch RPM...which can only come with time and practice.

Monte,

I am a memeber at Maxima.org too, but the last I heard (I haven't been on in a while) was that Steve at Frankencar was trying to get a class action suit in regards to the Maximas not producing 255 bhp and 247 lbs ft tq...

Re: Bosssho

thats for the horsepower not the torque, they are defiantely putting tdown the torque plus some in most cases.
