Anyone have any input on this?
I don't think it would be a problem using the spare to limp home with. If you check, I think you would find they are almost identical diameters, but different widths, as long as you took it easy. It would be the same as driving with one tire under-inflated.

My wife agrees with me that there were no negatives with this swap they were all positive results . As long as you keep the same size wheel and tire on all 4 corners.

GEE35X, what summer tires did you go with that are 235/45/28? Is it the stock GoodYear NCT5 or BridgeStone ER33? BTW, what winters are u going to be putting on?
My wife and I will be picking up our 05 G35 sedan MT6 this week in the Toronto area. Looking at tint and clearbra now...

Congratulations on your new ride, you will love it.
The summer tires that came on the 18" rims are 235R45/18 Goodyear Eagle NCT5 tires.
I use BSA 16 x 7 Alloys with Blizzak WS-50 Snow tires for winter which are awesome. The G35X has smaller brake rotors than the regular G35 Sedan so I believe you would have to go with 17" winter rims. If you encounter lots of snow these tires are unbelievable. Send me a PM if you have any questions.

The 45mm offset wheel makes the tire a little close to the front suspension. It does not rub at all, just a little close. A 38mm offset would have moved the wheel 7mm outwards, so it would essentially give me an additional 7mm of clearance in the front. However, sometimes that 7mm could mean rubbing or not rubbing. Just not in my case.

Thanks! I do not frequent the forums as much as I would like to. My wife and I had the car for more than 2 weeks now. I also got the NCT5 tires which BTW I think are better (in the dry) than the ER33. As you know, I will need to put on 17inch snow tires/wheels (215/55/17). I am looking at options now for wheels. Do you have any recommendations on local shops in Toronto for the winters? I have bought winter tires from (http://www.tiretrends.com) in Vancouver but I rather buy them locally to make sure the wheels fit.
I am also getting a metallic tint installed this week. I am going with Formula One Premier Series (http://www.formulaone.com).

I live a few hours from GTA, but I have bought winter tires from:
Steelcase Tire, 187 Steelcase Road West, Markham, ON L3R 2R9, Tel. : 905-479-8884.
I suggest you ask for this info on the Canada forum in the Regional section. There are a lot of members that live in the GTA there and they will help you out with a good placeto get tires there.

I have the stock 17s still on my car. The only issue with going to 18s is the fact that I would have to have two sets of tires. 17 winter and 18 summer. I would prefer to have just one set all the time. I do not see where they make all season in an 18 inch rim size.. Does any tire maker offer an 235/44 18inch tire ?

its doent matter wat size spare u have unless u have big brakes, the spare is ment to get u to a garage to fix ur flat, not to be driven around on,and no you car wont ride on 3 wheels if the fourth is too small.

A full size spare car be used for as long as you want - it is mounted on the same rim that your car came with.

18 wheels for 05x

I have 18" wheels with 50 off set, runnig on 235/45 18,
had to add 5mm spacer for front.
45mm offset won't need spacers.

For the stock 17 wheels, It's sitting in garage collecting dust,
So I just got a set of forged 17x7 Roja wheels at 16lb each.
This forged wheels set up is saves 10lb per corner, but not as good
looking & handling is not as good compare to my 18x8. But it'll be faster.
It'll be my track wheels. I am selling the 05 OEM wheels on ebay.

I felt for street use, 18x8 is better.

Can you give me more specs to your winter wheels (ie offset, bolt pattern 5x100?). I will look for an identical wheel in 17 x 7 with 215/55/17 winter tires. I will give Steelcase Tire a call.

thanks

Your bolt pattern is 5 X 114.3 and you could go with 17 X 7 with a 45 offset for your winter rims.
I just remembered Jerry at Yorkville Infiniti did have new snow and rim packages left over from last season. He had said he had good deals on them.
Give him a call too and mention you are from G35driver. His # is:

RichK,

I checked the Moda R6's. According to tirerack they are 38mm...or am I looking at it wrong?

Just curious for you guys that went with the aftermarket wheels. What about the tire pressure monitor? Did you take those from the stock wheels and put them onto the aftermarket wheels?
