05 Loaner... my service experience

So yesterday I dropped off my car to get serviced. 3 things I mentioned to them. 1) aluminum trim along the dash (right of the gauges) was coming lookse. 2) creaking from left side vent (far driver's side) 3) creaking/clicking coming from driver's seat

So got the news late yesterday that they're ordering new vent (internal rattle/squeak) and a new metal trim piece. I thought they could just glue it... but whatever. They said the service tech couldn't find anything wrong with my seat. Told I had to go in to show them. Showed them this morning... couldn't duplicate it for some reason but the service tech knew of the issues with the new one but said there were corrections made on the 05. In any event he decided he'd order me new rails just to be sure. Gotta take it in again... oh well.

Now to the 05 base model loaner I got. I must say I am so glad I got the premium and sport suspension. The ride's a bit squishy to me. Doesn't handle as well and god damn those goodyear RSAs are such crap. So the interior... the rearview mirror seems so cheap. Also the exhaust sounded different. Maybe cuz this car's been trashed by every driver (4.5k miles only) or something but definitely not as deep as my 05 and raspy sounding to boot. Yes I drove it hard... but not that much because the damn tires would give. AC didn't seem to get as cold... were there that many differences between the prem and base models?

Oh and my service guy sucked. Didn't remember me. Didn't remember he called me yesterday to come in this morning. Doesn't communicate well. I gotta go back to Jennifer at Costa Mesa infiniti.

Sorry to hear your service experience isn't going as smooth as it should. Yes, loaners probably get abused...last one I got was kinda filthy inside (but maybe it's because I keep my very clean). I was wondering though, what reason did the service advisor give you for the left vent? Did he say the vent had a design defect or something. I'm trying to pinpoint the source of this rattle in my car, and I think it has to do with the door and the vent rubbing together. I can push against the part of the door where the window controls are (under the door handle), and the rattle goes away. I can stop the rattling "on demand" by pushing against this part of the door. So, this makes me think that it's not really the vent alone. Any details you can get from the dealer would help.

That's why I'm waiting to really pinpoint the source...I don't want the dealer taking things apart and hoping it fixes it.

He just said that when the service tech took it off. There was something wrong with it internally. We'll see if it fixes it... but from this thread https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/58265-drivers-side-vent.html basus (4th post) said it was replaced and no more noise. The sound on mine only went away if I pushed on the vent. Your rattle you could test out real quick. get some foam tape (single sided and place along the edge of the vent where it meets the door.

i turned my car in a few days ago with door rattles (window). the rattles are worse in my loaner than my own car.

costa mesa infiniti service sucks. a bunch of idiots. i which i could tell them all, AND that they would actually care. i bought my car there, and only took my car in twice (i thought - it couldn't be that bad... again). never again. they are purely stupid. i personally think i'm more qualified to be a service advisor than those people. but i think i'd intimidate the existing employees if i fill out an application while my car is getting looked at.
