HELP, A/T slippage for those with 2003 Sedan

I've seen a few posts (some as far back as 2003) about slippage, hiccup, shuddering, etc. at around 40mph when the A/T tries to go from 3rd to 4th. This issue has also plagued my car for a while now. I've recently taken my car to the dealer and told them of this issue and again they say they cannot find anything wrong nor can they duplicate the occurrence when they road test it, and they claim to have no knowledge of any other customers describing the same issue. For those who have encountered this problem, is there anyone who has had success in getting it resolved? If so, what exactly should I be telling the dealer so that they'll know where to look for the problem? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have had the same symptons where you floor the gas and it stalls and the rpms go up and finally it kicks into gear and goes. I believe it is from the K&N filter I have installed from the oiled filter that goes into the MAF sensor. This is what I was told but I could be wrong.

I have an 03 sedan and yes it does the same bump, jerk, whatever. Dealer recommended a full trans flush and new trans fluid. After paying out another 300 dollars plus,it still does the same ****. Infiniti dealers suck *** in Raleigh, NC. My brakes also have squealed since day one. I still enjoy my sedan esp. after modding.
Good luck on the trans and hit me up if you find a solution.

You sure it's just not downshifting?

I just bought an 05 Automatic sedan from the Raleigh Dealership. Every time I try to shift from second to third in the manumatic mode it gives a loud thunk. Is this something to be worried about?

Try the GroundingGear 10 wire Hypergound system. My 2003 5AT has no such tranny problems and shifts very crisp. It now has 63K miles and going strong. I had the tranny flush service and rear differential service done at 60K miles.
PM gordgee for pricing of the 10 wire hyperground system.

I get the thunk too. I've always had it and some of the other people have had it too. try shifting a little higher (around 3-4k) and the thunk shouldn't happen. only happens when you short shift.

Yea I have noticed that shifting higher alleviates the problem. I guess it isn’t a big deal because I usually shift higher in the manual mode anyway.

Well, a couple of days after my original post my transmission died on me. Dealer checked it out and said that 4th gear was all grinded down. Getting a new tranny put in right now, thankfully it's still under warranty. My car had about 58K miles when this happened. Just thought I'd keep you guys updated.

Funny, cuz I had just got it serviced with a tranny fluid flush, would have been nice if someone could have told me about any metal bits in the old fluid. I'm sure the previous shudders between 3rd & 4th were symptoms of the gear gradually grinding down. But whatever, I think I will go with lexus or bmw for my next car.
