Clear Bra self install

Do you guys recommend the 3M or the Llumar product?
I think 3M is the best. The best thing you can do is request a sample piece of film from both and install it on your car. That way you can see what is more pleasing to your eye.
I like 3M because it has the clearcoat and looks great when installed.

I tried the self-install (3M kit) when my car was new. I am sort of a handy guy (plumbing, electric, general remodeling) and I failed miserably. You need a lot of practice to get a clear bra on right. Needless to say, my car has no clear bra 2 years later. (luckily for me, no paint chips on the front either). What I don't like about clear bras is that you see the line accross the hood of the car. It's there and it's obvious.

Here are some pics of it when I installed it on my CL-S... also here is a link to the rest of those pics. In these pics you can see how the 3M material changes the color of the car slightly. Llumar does not do this, and also you can barely see the lines.

I posted these in another thread, but I'd like to reiterate the fact that the Llumar film is more transparent than the 3M film. I've seen them side-by-side on a diamond graphite G35 (mine) vs. a diamond graphite M35 (friend's). Mine looks cleaner. ![Smilie](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

You can see more pictures over at flickr here in various lighting conditions.
Oh, I forgot to mention that those big-ish spots, etc are waterspots all over the car. Those pictures were taken about a week after the car was last washed. The film itself is impossible to see with the exception of the seam along the edge, and that's only visible from certain angles.

Nice pics. I am wondering why mine goes up much higher on the hood than yours. And on the fenders as well. And mine is LLUMAR. It's a precut through a plotter.
