Help me out fellas is this a scam????
I recently posted a ad on craigslist to sell my stock front bumper that was replaced by a front aero kit bumper. Anyways I recieved a email on the sale of $100 but the person is located in the U.K. and he really wants this bumper but check out this email he sent me:
Greetings ,
Thanks for the reply and the information you sent . I have just called my client now and he has said he'd be sending a check of $3400 to your contact address in which you will remove the asking price $150 after cashing it in local check cashing store or in any local bank close to your area and an extra $100 for your running around and then wire the balance to the shipper that he will use for all his flight charges and all other shipping charges and for the insurance of the (BUMPER) when being shipped, I hope I can trust you on this?So you will be getting the check next week,The information of the shipper will probably be sent alongside the check. I will notify you if he has sent it. Looking forward to completing this transaction w/ you.Get back to me asap.
NOTE: ALL CASHING FEES AND WESTERN UNION CHARGES SHOULD BE DEDUCTED FROM THER SHIPPING FUNDS.

Let me understand this......He's sending you an amazing abundence of cash? He's asking you to then cash the check? Then he's asking you to arrange the shipping (deducting any monies from what he sent you)? And, you then keep the extra cash (about a 250% overage)?

Been there with many items. It's defenitely a scam. I've received certified checks and postal money orders that really look real! My bank was actually going to cash one until we asked them to verify. It was a scam. Be very careful.

100% Scam.
I work in a bank and I see this scam on a weekly basis. How it works is that you get an overseas check which you deposit in your account. Most banks will clear the check as a curtosey before they receive funds from the UK. International checks take a looong time to clear. So you have the $3400 in your account before the money actually clears. You then ship him his parts, the remainder of his funds back (3150 over western union which guarentees his fund return). A week later, the initial $3400 check does not clear due to insufficient funds. Your bank comes after you now as your acount is -3000 and change. In the cases I have seen with this, it is extremely hard to get your money back, almost a 0% chance of success.
Proceed with care, I will be the world that this is a scam. I see this very often.

Lol, I agree.....how does anyone actually fall for this stuff. I feel quite bad for the people that get screwed over by guys like this.

Is this your first post on Craigslist? You may not know this but you are almost guaranteed to attract the scam artists with a post there. That said, it's a good way to buy and sell stuff once you sift through the junk emails. Never transact in cash for ebay, craigslist or other auction/sales sites. You'll do much better if you sell locally. I thought the local nature of Craigslist encouraged that anyway.
