Noob Question

How can I tell if the 2003 G-sedan I purchased is a 2003 or a 2003.5?

Also, should I have the Automatic Headlamp feature on my car?

I could be wrong but I believe 2003.5 has what people call the "doggie door trunk".

actually it's the 03 with the doggie door trunk...03.5 has infiniti spread across the entire trunk.

Gotcha! I don't think the doggie door trunk was popular since it was replaced after half a year and it's been the spread out infiniti ever since.

But then you know what. I've seen quite a few doggie door trunk g35's with 04's rims. If doggie door trunk was 03, shouldn't it come with the 5 star rims?

These wheels are the sport package wheels.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Mine is a 2003.5, I'm sure of it now. No doggie door trunk lid.

Now...shouldn't I have automatic headlamps? I have been driving a Cadillac Escalade for the last year, and have gotten really used to not having to manually turn my headlamps on. I don't see that mode on my headlamp switch. What's up? Am I just missing it?

Auto On/Off headlamps are a Premium Package item. I'm guessing you didn't get it. If you did, the first setting on the light stalk is AUTO.

Could have opened up the driver's door and check the date the car was made too.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought 03 was 5spoke sport or non-sport, except sports use bigger tires and 04 is the 6spoke sport or non-sport.

Hmm...I swear I thought I saw a 5spoke G once and the wheels said 215/55/17. That's a sport size? for 03/04?

Actually the car has the Premium, Sport, Aero & Winter packages...so I guess I just didn't notice the AUTO mode. Duh...! Good to know though. I am going nuts having to wait at least another week until I can actually take the car off the lot. Here in Missouri, unless the dealer has recieved the title to a car that has been traded in, the car cannot leave the lot even though all the paperwork and loan documents have been done.

Should be middle of next week though. I can park this behemouth 12-mpg Escalade and be back into a sports sedan where I belong!!! Yes!!

Thanks for taking time out of your obviously busy day to help me with such a thoughtful post. I really appreciate it.

Just look on the inside driver door jam - it says what month and year the car was built.

Glad to see at least some people can figure out the inpractability of super-size luxury "SUV's". Good luck with your G.
