what does a coupe mid pipe do for the sedan? I assume "more horsepower", but what is the difference.

I haven't seen the underside of my sedan yet.

The coupe mid-pipe on a sedan will lighten the car up by about 40 lbs, definitly change the sound of the exhaust. I don't believe there is any increase of HP though.

in my opinion..
the coupe midpipe gives a louder (and better in my opinion) exhaust tone..
and also give some high end horsepower..since the exhaust flow will be less restrictive..
However, there might be slight loss in low end power

You also get some resonance from the mid pipe. I have the proto-type done by Z Car Garage. I like it. I does take some weight off and it makes the manumatic more fun.

I've enjoyed this mod since I fired up the G after install. Definite 30-40lb weight loss. Exhaust note change for the better (remember is still is a standard nissan part). I felt there was a change in my "butt dyno", but don't care enough to have it actually dyno'd. The warranty shouldn't be effected unless a problem develops directly caused by the mid pipe.

Where are the best places to get the stock coupe midpipe? I didn't see any on eBay.

Anyone have a Nissan/Infiniti PN? How about install pics? What all is needed to install the coupe midpipe?

www.performancenissanparts.com has them. I don't have one myself yet. I been waiting for a local coupe owner to offer one up for sale, but it hasn't happened yet.

I don't know about the 05's, but the 04 sedan's middy was 36 pounds, while the coupe's was 12, so that's a weight loss of 24lbs.

I highly doubt there's ANY performance difference. From my understanding, airflow practically remains unchanged. It's purely a sound mod.

Having said that, I highly recommend it. However, it makes less of a difference on the 05 compared to the 04's and 03's.

We had a chance to weigh mine this morning (05 A/T sedan) and it weighed in at 42 lbs...coupe pipe we had weighed in at 13....by the same token, factory muffler weighed in at 19, and the new one at 3....

I've got the mid pipe as well and the sound is much more satisfying. Coupled with a z tube and1/2 inch spacer and it definitely has a much more aggressive sound without being overkill.

I'm thinking about getting an HKS muffler as well. I'm only into the mid-pipe mod for the sound. The weight savings is a nice difference. It will offset some of the added weight of the subwoofer enclosure.
