Need Help!

I used the K&N recharge kit to clean my Injen intake. Trust me I am no mechanic. When I put it back on and started my car, its sputtered then cut off. I restarted it and it seemed fine. When I went to drive two days later I lost power and it cut off. I didnt drive for two more days. In those two days I recleaned the filter and barely put oil on it. When I went to drive I noticed big loss in power but it did drive. When I tried get on it it cut cut off again. What do I need to do???

If you re-cleaned the filter during the 2 days, does that mean you over-oiled it the first time? (common newbie problem!)

You may have fouled the MAF sensor. Sometimes, you can be successful at cleaning it. Bad news is that it may have to be replaced.

I think I did over oil it the first time. How do you clean the MAF sensor? I think my best bet is to take my car to Infiniti and let them fix it.

I don't believe you can clean it. I believe it must be replaced. Beware of dealer ripoffs!!!! The dealer told me our 2000 Maxima needed a new MAF and wanted to charge me over $400 for it. I went to Maxima.org and discussed this with the Maxima guys. One of them told me that the dealer will try to charge you $400, but it only costs $100. So I called up the dealer's parts department, the same dealer that had my car, and the parts guy told me the part was $102. I confronted the "advisor" about this. Talk about back embarrased! They are thieves. Watch out!!!

Yeah man, the dealer was already talking $300-$500 or $500-$1000. Depending on the exact nature of the problem. I thought that sounded pretty steep.
