Going through G Withdrawals...
Going through G Withdrawals...
Just venting....
On 5/21, my wife was sitting in rush hour traffic in my G, and got slammed into from the back by an F150, and then pushed into a truck in front of her...She was OK, but the rear end and front end of my 5 month old sedan were smashed.
After getting it towed to the shop, the guy warns us that this could take about 2 months (ouch!), possibly longer, because parts for these things are hard to come by. And the parts/repair list is like 4 pages long.....
So now, I'm stuck in a Volvo S40 for another month, but at least the person that caused the accident is paying for the rental...
I MISS MY CAR!

Re: Going through G Withdrawals...
Thanks, man...Actually, the repairs are being done at a shop near my place of work, not an Inifiniti dealership...Is it a better idea to have work like that done at the dealership?
Re: Going through G Withdrawals...
Some dealers use shops with a good rep so they don't have to keep addressing a bodywork issue. Some dealerships own their own shops and the quality can be questionable.

Re: Going through G Withdrawals...
As long as the shop is GOOD to EXCELLENT it does not matter if the dealer does it or another shop. The parts are ordered and speed would be the same, dealer or not. It does sometimes help if the bodyshop has dealt with the dealer and the insurance company before, a good relatioship helps too.
Re: Going through G Withdrawals...
I am still waiting on the dealership's collision center to call and tell me they received a bumper. (9 months now) After the run around for three months I took the G to a local collision center. Received the G back in three days with OEM parts installed.
More on the dealership's collision center ... The last time I was there (the deciding factor to go somewhere else), they were trying to deliver a Volvo they just repaired to a customer. There were bad paint spots on the door and OVERSPRAY and rubbing compound everywhere (trunk, bumber, windows, tires, and wheels.) I left and did not look back. This dealership owns an Acura, Audi, Chrystler, Honda, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, and 2 Lexus dealerships and this collision center is managed by the owners' son.
Good luck on your repairs...

Unfortunately, 99% of cars that went through big accidence and repair job will never be the same as before. I had this in 92 on my 90 Max
