on the infiniti website it shows the fuel capacity of 20 gallons. so i decided to check it out. one time i ran my car to empty, turned the gas on until it clicks, and then i do my little top off. only filled up 16.3 gallons! I thought it was a glitch or something until i did it the second time. Ran the car to empty, filled it up and only got 16.2 gallons. i was only getting like 260-280 miles to the tank. wheres my other 4 gallons, lol. for a 20 gallon tank, and the miles i was receiving, i should have at least gotten another 60 miles [the way i drive]. i'm thinking maybe theres something clogged up in my fuel tank? i'm not sure. i wanted to ask you guys before i go to the dealer and they charge me for a new fuel tank or something haha.

 

I think the reserve is like 2-3 gallons. How do you know you were TOTALLY empty?

 

i thought about the reserve also before i filled up. i knew i was totally empty because i had a big loss of power and my car did not go when i hit the gas. i even had full throttle and it would just roll until i got to a mini hill where the gas would move around. i was running on fumes haha

oh and WTF!!! how come we dont have those ding ding dings!?!?! when we run out of gas, and the gas light comes on, theres no noise?? that is so fvcking stupid. i just drive around and then i notice that little light right before my car shuts off. its so bad.

 

so ther's 3 gallons in reserve, so if the light comes on i can still drive for about 50miles or so???

 

I drove 40 miles after my light came on last week. It would still only take 18 gallons at fill-up.

 

Technically, if you had no gas left in the tank, your car would have shut off. So I think you still had some gas, but you could have been pulling the crap from the gas in the tank into the engine, that may explain why you noticed the loss in power. Or there wasn't enough gas coming into your engine.
