Installed Ztube on 05
Installed Ztube on 05
Finally I was able to install the ztube that I got from a buddy of mine on my 05. As for performance, personally I did not feel much but on the exhaust tone, all I have to say is WOW. This is what the car needed, a tougher exhaust tone. Next on the project list is to get the K&N dropin filter to replace the OEM one that is present.
I also went ahead and removed the resonator that is present on the stock airbox. What a pain in the #$$ to remove one of the screws. I did not notice much of an exhaust tone change here after removing it. I did leave the hole open since much more air can come up that way. Hmm, anyone ever thought of putting a ram air from the front bumper up to this hole? One of my only worries with this hole open is even though the stock airbox sits high, I wonder if any rain can sneek up that way? UR comments appreciated.
Thanks

If I were you I'd get a "Stillen High Flow Airbox" to complete the job. The sound will be awesome and the performance improved.
The sound is noticeable inside and outside the car. This is one of the best mods on my '05 Sedan.

Your talking about that little tube that stems off the z-tube? Are you saying we don't need that? That was a pain in the *** to remove. I still don't think thats a very good idea. Dirt and water wouldn't have a hard time getting in there, but I always thought it was a part of something for the engine so I just reconnected it.
You wont get much from a ram air off of the little hole. Most air is coming from the long intake extender across the base of the engine bay. I forget what Nissan calls it but in any event the air coming from that and the "power duct" will far overcome anything you can ram into that little hole. I left mine open too and there is no way water will be a problem unless you drive through a puddle that reaches up to the power duct and engulfs it completely so that the engine injests only water.

Prior to getting this I had the Z-Tube and K&N filter, so I know it made a difference in performance and sound.
The Z-Tube and Stillen intake work really well together. IMHO, it is worth every penny.

I have yet to see a INDEPENDANT dyno runs with before and after on the same day at the same dyno with the stillen intake.
ztube is all you need and it probably doesn't even do anything other than more sound. The K&N will not give you more power either.
