A/C Issues?

Have there been any known or common problems with the air conditioner units with the 2003's?

Lately mine seems to be way too loud and the blower seems to always run. It sounds like the cooling fan or something, and puts a serious load on the engine at all times. I know it needs to kick on at times for cooling, but it never shuts off. Even when it's been cooler out, I've turned it on and the fan and everything starts running immediately. Is this normal?

I remember reading something about the a/c units with the '03s, but I can't recall what the issues were.

I agree...im a little confused on how the defrost works in conjunction with the AC. For the past couple weeks..it seems that the defrost only works when the AC is on. If i turn off the AC and try using the regular 2 defrost buttons it wont work...then all of the sudden, once i push that AC button, every window gets cleared up in seconds.??? any thoughts?

The defrost thing is normal. All AC units are supposed to turn on when using the defrost.

Really? I dont know..is that a Infiniti thing? I've driven in plenty of cars and dont ever recall having to turn the AC on to Defrost your windows. What if its freakin cold out and raining and you need them defrosted...that would suck to have the cold *** AC blowing when its already cold outside

You shouldn't have to turn the AC on to run it, but what I meant is that the AC will automatically turn on when turning on the defrost. You should then be able to turn off the AC, if you'd like.

oh i know that, but once i turn the AC off and try just running the regular front and rear defrost it wont really work right...i try opening the windows and everything, but the front windshield still gets all fogged up. But once i press that AC button to turn it on..BAM!! (Like Emeril) all gets cleared up

Uh, yeah, that's why car manf. started connecting AC to defrost functions. Because it works so much better. I've own 3 or 4 cars that didn't have AC at all and defrosting/defogging the windows was always a problem. Winter, it's not as big a deal, cause you want the heat on. Rainy warm summer days are a bitch though.

Defrost runs the A/C compressor, because it pulls moisture out of the air. However, it doesn't run it through the condensor which cools the air. Defrosting with heat on will not blow cold air.

Yeah, but if youre trying to enjoy the breeze and want your windows open, and then have to still run your AC then its like your running it and wasting the energy or whatever for no reason

then you need to use a different product to clean the window so it wont fog up really easily
