LOL - After posting this thread, I found two G35's like I wanted in the area. One dealer can get one from Dallas (I'm in Houston) but it has sat radio and will cost $500 to ship. They seem like a cool dealer and give me good numbers ($500 over cost). The other dealer has one with just splash guards and trunk mat but the most I could negotiate was $1000 over cost. I'm not happy about that but it's still much cheaper than the other.

One thing that kind of bothers me about these dealers is they both charge $270 or more for "free" oil changes and checkups for the first 2 years. I may not be able to use this since the one dealer is far from my house. Something else I found out is that there is currently a $1000 rebate on G's. I think it only lasts until the end of the month like the special financing but not sure. FYI for those shopping.

Everyone wants something different, but here is why I ordered a 6mt with no options:

Power Sunroof $1000 - Don't like sunroofs, even at no cost wouldn't want it.

Aero Package $550 - Prefer the look without the spoiler, and this requires the sunroof

DVD Infiniti Navigation System $2000 (plus cost of update DVDs)- $2k will buy a lot of toys, and one of them could be a GPS system, but I'd rather save the money and keep a road atlas in the car plus print maps off the internet before trips.

Premium Package
----------------
Sunroof -don't want
Bose® -gets bad reviews. If I need quality sounds, I would go aftermarket
Driver's seat/Steering wheel memory -Other people rarely drive my car
Power tilt and telescoping steering wheel. -I have no problem with manual controls here
Reclining rear seatbacks -not concerned with those in the back
Dual-zone climate control with microfiltration. -that would be nice, but rarely used
Auto on/off headlights. -I prefer control that myself, nice that you can turn off that feature though
Electrochromic auto-dimming inside mirror. -Now that I would like
One-touch open/close rear windows. -not concerned with those in the back
HomeLink® Universal Transceiver. -Would be nice, but I don't mind keeping the garage door remote in the car

Intelligent Key -love this feature, but not for $3,350.00
Rear air conditioning vents -not concerned with those in the back
Entry/exit assist -found this annoying in the loaner car, I'm in and out of the car so fast, that this actually slows me down.

Satellite radio- I have this now, but it isn't worth it now that the price has gone up to $13 a month.

Keep in mind I am single with no kids. Some of these options would make more sense if there was a wife that sometimes drives the car, or kids in the backseat. Also, the price of a G35 optioned out, is getting close to the price of an M35 Sport which is much nicier (if you can live with an auto).

I have one 22 month old son and 1 on the way. I paid 3,350 for this option alone and I gave up the manual transmission. As crazy as it sounds that was the best $3,350 I have ever spent(My $3,350 Sony LCD TV is a close second though)! This feature should be up for product of the YEAR!

Really?! Is it that hard to press the unlock button on your keychain remote?

I understand that those features don't appeal to you but why buy a Near luxury car with no luxury features? How much money do you really save? In my case, I got my fully optioned 6MT that stickered for 38.8K for 34.5K

The list of standard features answers this rather handily.

Savings add up. I happen to agree with mpgxsvcd (edit: wrong person there, meant brandon), if I decide to go with the G, I wouldn't get any packages on top of the 6 speed. Compared to my Tacoma, even the base G is light years ahead with respect to luxury. I don't like sun roofs, I don't need seat memory since I'm the only driver, I don't need reclining rear seats since only my son will be back there in a booster seat.. Just makes no sense to buy stuff like this just for the heck of it.

If you get what you're looking for at the price you can deal with, you did good. The same can be said for someone who chooses the base G, I think.

I think we have different philosphies on what a G35 sedan is. For me it is a car that performs well, but keeps the driver comfortable. The options don't add to performance or driver comfort. I'm not anti-option, it is just that the available options don't appeal to me. The 6mt "option" is the best anyway

I would save about $5k compared to a fully optioned 6mt. I don't expect resale to be a problem, and since the original value is less, I will lose less in depreciation.
