Re: tl-type-s or the g35 sedan winner????
Just as a sanity check.. when you come to a site like "g35driver.com" and ask "who would win, the g35 or the ____?" -- just what, exactly, are you expecting the answer to be? Ask this same question in a Honda/Acura forum, and I bet you get a completely different answer. (Or, ask questions about the ____ in the ____ forum....)
The Type S also has 260 horses, costs less fully loaded, and can probably hold it's own in straight-line acceleration. But, it doesn't have the G35's 260 lb-ft of torque, RWD w/ near-50-50 weight distribution, and doesn't have an available 6-speed manual transmission. (Okay, the CL does, but the G35 coupe gets even *more* power.) It's a family car with some grunt v. an actual sports sedan.

There were quite a few posted awhile back... if you search the forums (specifically, Detail Shop forum) for "clear bra" you'll probably find more pictures than you want. (You'll probably need to go back 3-6 months or more.) The search button is hiding in the thin black bar at the very top of the page.

Re: tl-type-s or the g35 sedan winner????
I test drove a Acura TL-S, Lexus IS300 and Audi A4... but ended up getting a G35...The Lexus had similar if not better handling but didn't have the power I needed... the Acura... not didn't even really consider it.
Oh BTW some mag did a comparison between the G35 Sedan, Acura TL-S and BMW 330... the G35 was the acceleration winner and the BMW was the handling winner.

I did the same test drive of both cars and the G won. I also hate FWD but would have bought the Honda Accord...ops...I mean the Acura TL Type S but it felt like a...oh, you get the picture.

Re: tl-type-s or the g35 sedan winner????
After test driving nearly everything in this class, it came down to the TL-S, 330xi, and G35. I took them all to one lot, parked them side-by-side, and went over every little aspect of them. I then drove them (I used a friend's fully-loaded 6 month old Bimmer so I could drive it hard). The 330xi had good-to-great handling, but not enough to justify the extra 14k I would be dropping to get it, not to mention the backseat is a matchbox and I just couldn't bring myself to buy another BMW after A) our experience with them, and B) what I know about their company and their practices. The TL-S couldn't keep up... it's very comfortable, and it's got many ameneties (though a very "honda" plastic feel), but it just can't drive as well or pick up off the starting line like I would have hoped. To be fair, my last car was FWD and beat most of the cars I ever raced- but that's because I took a SHO and pumped it up to 290hp. Get the Motor Trend of circa July 2002, it has a great comparo of the 330, g35, TL-S, and CTS. (Spoiler: CTS loses BIG time)

Same here, except the TL-S didn't make it to the second heat, and the 330i was a RWD version. I thought the Volvo S60 T5 was a not-too-distant 3rd, and now that the S60R is coming out, it looks rather impressive. The CTS didn't inspire me, but that might change next year.. GM's got a new 3.6L V6 good for 255hp, and a 6-speed manual. At least they're serious about playing in the same arena, we'll wait to see how it mixes together. Plus, the 3-series is due for a redesign soon -- we know it'll be better, we just hope it won't be uglier (the way of the 7 and 5).
In the meantime, I'll keep my G for a good, long while.
