I have a 2005 Sedan 6mt.. I was playing with a old school Mustang on the highway today and turned off the AC to give me a few extra HP and I wondered if the AC has a cut off switch under Wide Open Throttle..

Most performance cars do but wondered if anyone knew on the G's...

I don't know about the 05's, but my '03 does not cut the A/C at WOT.

This is standard all cars cut off A/C at WOT. I don't think it has anything to do with it being a performance car but is more a safety mechanism so that you don't blow up your A/C unit.

I heard that's why sometimes when you are in auto econ mode, you will feel a slight surge in power at WOT when it shuts off. Your car is still quicker with it off because there is a slight delay between when you floor it and it responds by shutting the AC.

2004 6MT. The A/C compressor DOES cut off at WOT, econ mode or not.
