2005 6MT Clutch Problem

I've done quite a bit of forum searching regarding the 6MT clutch and the problems people have with it, but I don't think any address the problem I'm having.

I've got an 05 6MT Sedan (only 550 miles) and sometimes while driving (usually at lower speeds) the clutch will make a "pop" or "thunk" noise as I'm depressing it. It usually happens about half way down and I can actually feel the noise as a vibration in the clutch pedal as it happens. While driving home with my wife last night it happened about 5 times, several of which were loud enough for her to ask "What was that?".

Anybody have a similar problem? Is this normal, or should I have it checked out by the dealer. I'm hoping the car just needs some more breaking in and then it will go away.

The 6mt has a noisy flywheel. If you let off at a high enough RPM you will hear a ROAR noise that will go away once you engage or the rpms of the flywheel slow down. It is just normal on this car.

Mine does this when I first start driving for the day, the first couple of gear changes I get a clunk, thunk type of noise.

Besides hearing the noise, do you guys also "feel" the popping sound as a vibration in the clutch pedal?

Ya I notice the clutch is a little clunky. Only in 1st gear engaging or disengaging at very low speed.

With 4400 miles on the odo, I do not remember any "clunking" in clutch movement. I certainly hear and feel the higher RPM roaring mentioned earlier. It could be nothing, but it could be something more serious. Take it to the dealer, and drive with them until it does it.

I get the same thing on my 05 6mt. I currently have 1900 miles on it and have noticed it from day 1. It usually occurs going from N to 1 or 1 to 2. It most often occurs early on when the car is not warmed up or under hard acceleration. I am guessing it is not doing much damage. Mine certainly isn't audible but you can feel it.

I had an 04 6mt coupe and never felt anything like this.

I hear and feel the "thunk" when I'm shifting from neutral to first gear, but only when the a/c is on. Similarly, when I'm shifting into fifth gear I feel the same thunk when the a/c is on. But I don't feel it in the clutch. It's coming from the driveshaft methinks...or maybe rear differential. I don't think the 05 6mt likes driving with the a/c on, which fits my personality just fine.

I'm going to experiment with the auto/econ/a/c button some more. Maybe you should try it as well.
