Purchasing a new 2005 G sedan.....

Hi guys,
I'm really close to buying one and had some questions. When i got to the dealership and test drive the model I will likely purchase, what should i be looking out/listening for. Any thing i should be wary about? i would hate to purchase anything that is not up to standard. Any other tips would be appreciated about a new purchase. Thanks for the help!

Do a few burnouts and top speed runs.

j/k - If there are any problems after the sale, the dealer should take care of it.

Yes... make sure there isn't an evil monkey in the trunk.

Seriously, just look out for the finance guy. Those guys will sell their grandmothers to add $5 to your bill. Other than that, enjoy the ride.

I would check the condition of the rotors. When I bought mine a month ago, the rotors had rust on them and the rust ended up cutting the rotors effecting the braking on the car. I had to take it back and have the clean the rotors on the machine, but without actually turning them. That fixed the problem.

Also, if you get the Package C and the car has been sitting awhile, make sure the battery is good and strong.

When you find the one you like, take it to an independent neighborhood mechanic to have it checked out. Also, run it's VIN to make sure it hasn't been in any accidents and has a clean title ...

Welcome to the board, you'll see no shortage of smart as$ responses left and right. My only advice is there are plenty of cars on the lots, so buy one that hasn't been used for test drives

Not much to watch for bro other than scratches and dents. Go over it well b4 taking possession then lean on the warranty if you have to.

G/L and enjoy your new ride.

If possible, avoid cars with higher miles, 25 or more, as they probably were used for test drives. Look for scratchs and other such imperfections. Take everything the salesman says with a grain of salt and when it comes down to price have him make the first offer, not you.

Did you all get to test drive the car you were looking at the first time you tried? The dealer I bought our 05 DG 6MT Sedan had both an automatic and manual sedan that they used solely for test drives. Made it tough to test drive the car you were going to buy, but assured you that you were the first customer to drive it...

The dealer I bought from is the same, they have demo's, no way you can just drive one off the lot, that makes sense, then everyone gets a fresh car, mine had 8 miles on it, my previous G had 24 miles, but it had been to the tint shop. And, the demo's from this dealer are not likely abused, they won't let you take a car without the salesperson.

Just look for the normal stuff like scratches, dents and make sure the paint is even all over the car. My sales guy was a bit more laid back. We test drove our actual car. It had 18 miles on it. Sales guy said drive it like you normally would so I did. He was cringing when my wife was parallel parking in a super tight spot. What he didn't know is she is a Pro at it. He thought it was funny that we pulled into a tight parking spot in the 7-eleven parking lot. I told him we were stopping off to get a bottle of Ripple and asked if he wanted some. We got back and exchanged business cards. We went home and got my wife’s Eclipse ready to trade in and headed back the next day to buy it.

Buy with confidence. All G35s are built in Japan for quality reasons (pretty cool huh?) The G35 is their "baby" or "flagship" car, so they go all out to deliver a quality product. Like it was said earlier, it's got a warranty too, and I've found (IMO) that the Infiniti dealerships are just flat out AWESOME with service.

You spend that much $$$ and they treat you like gold. Mine's only got 8k on it, but this is my 2nd G35 and I can't say enough about these cars. Awesome motor, smooth power, great handling, light, and a body style that you just... well.... got to love.

Of course I own a G35, hence my position, but I still recommend the car to anyone. One drive and you'll get it. Good luck man.

Don't get any extended warranties on it. I got the tire warranty only because I was afraid of damaging the rims on the freeway (potholes, etc) in LA. Big waste. Oh well.
