I need help from All 05 6MT Owners

According to them (dealer) this is normal for all 05 6MT. I need some prove show to the dealer, After read the previous thread, please response, your response will be appreciated. This is what happen to my G.

"My G35 (1200 miles)is making a high pitching(whistling - sometimes short, sometimes 2-5 seconds) noise. It does not happen all the time but some times when I reduce the speed or down shift it occurs. The Dealer told me that happens because Infiniti designed a new transmission, and all 2005 G35 6MT make this high pitching (Whistling) noise. At the same dealership I drove another 6MT and that car did not make any noise.this is just happening to me? or someone have same problem?"

Many variations of this noise exist in the 6MT. Various people experience varying types of noise similar to what you describe.

Normal? Yes. Depending on what you're hearing, a whistling noise is not uncommon in this manual tranny.

Other 6MT owners will likely tag in to describe their version of this character trait. If it is, indeed, the normal noise most have heard, you should be fine.

It's been discussed repeatedly here - some searching and reading would probably help ease your mind.

Please do me a favor and try to explain the noise using different terms. I've seen you post about this numerous times, and it's just not coming across.

Do I hear a whistle? Yes. Most notably when I downshift to engine brake and let off the accelerator. As the rpms decline, the whistling declines. It completely disappears under 2000 rpms. It comes from the engine compartment. Specifically, it's eminating from the left-hand side of the engine. Does this describe your situation?

If so, then don't worry about it. I think it's completely normal. I've heard equivalent sounds from previous manuals, like my wife's old saturn, our old 87 mazda 323, my wife's old 80 prelude, my dad's old 93 wrangler, 95 ranger, and even his 86 dodge pickup. It's commonplace, from my experience. Do I know what it is? I have no clue. If I had to hazard a guess, I would assume it's the intake, though I have no idea why the intake would make this kind of noise when decelerating, specifically with a manual tranny.

yes i noticed this whistling noise from day 1 and also the car i test drove at the dealership -- i had posted a forum earlier and people says its normal because everyone gets it at lower rpm between 2000 to 3000 rpm.

If u take up the issue pl let me know as i would like to know the cause -- never heard this kind of noise in other cars which i drove

I have heard anything unusual from my 6mt. However, it only has a little over 100 miles on it so I am babying it. I would expect some kind of high pitched gear noise under hard down shifting. If you think it is a problem, get a service guy to ride with you and let him hear the noise.

Almost 9000 miles on mine and there are no sounds I hear that I would describe as "whistling".

4100 miles on my 05 6mt and no such whistling noise. In fact no unusual noises whatsoever so far.

I wouldnt be able to help as I have heard nothing. Im not saying my car doesn't do those sounds, just that they might not be loud enough for me to hear through the window. I drive with windows up... try that j/k

If this is intake noise, why does this happen only sometimes and not all the time?

It sounds like high pitching whistling and in the same driving condition it is not happening all the time. And it is very loud, sometimes long, sometimes short. It drives me nuts. I never had this issue with my previous stick shift cars.
