Did you not test drive one prior to your purchase? I test drove one and it was the first thing I noticed. Anytime I depressed the clutch while shifting it made a whistling or howling sound. It sounds as though there is a strong wind outside, but is coming from within the engine bay - really annoying and out of place on this type of car. There was also a lot of vibration through the shifter and figuring out the friction point was a task I didn't want to have to learn to conquer when there are much better clutches out there.
This car in 6MT is not the way to go because Infiniti has no idea how to make a proper manual.

Sorry to reply to such an old thread but I just wanted to throw in my experience with this high pitch sound that occurs when I depress on the clutch and brake. This was one of the first things I noticed when I purchased my 05 6MT sedan. I would sometimes downshift and brake to a stop and then I would hear this whistling sound coming from under the hood. It was a little annoying in the beginning but after a little while, I got used to it. And then I checked this forum and realized that it was normal. I now have 10K miles on my car, and the noise is completely gone. Coincidently, I just switched to Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil this past week. I'm not sure if the synthetic oil helped or if I just had to break the car in, but I'm glad that it wasn't permanent.
