Needing help -- can I drive like this???

Re: Needing help -- can I drive like this???
One thing to look at right away....How much negative camber do you have in the front? Any alignment shop should be able to tell you, or you can get one of those combination spirit level/360 degree protractor things. I actually have an inexpensive device that is designed for track side race car set up that you hold up against the top and bottom edges of the rim, and a long needle points, (by gravity) to the camber angle. If your camber is 1/2 degree negative or less, you need to look again for a rubbing problem.
If you are running several degrees of negative camber, that is your problem, and it is caused by upseting the suspension geometry when lowering the car. Unless you can decamber the car, either with some sort of kit, or putting the stock springs back in, you will continue to have serious tire wear problems.
I would really doubt a toe problem would have anything to do with this....usualy it will cause a feathering of the tread and a desire for the car to follow pavement irregularities.

I chatted with Pesti last night. It seems the sedan's VDC is rather sensitive to offset tire sizes.
Fronts: Falken ZE502, 235/35R19 (the closest thing the tire shop had to make his car safely driveable at the time)
Rears: Bridgestone Pole Position S-03, 245/35R19
According to the Miata tire calculator, we have:
235/35R19: diameter 25.5", 792revs/mi
245/35R19: diameter 25.8", 783revs/mi
A difference of 1.1% between the tire sizes.
Actual specs of the tires are a bit different:
ZE502: diameter 25.6", 816revs/mi
S-03: diameter 25.7", 811revs/mi
A difference of about 0.4% between tire sizes.
So, even though they're even closer than the calculator says they are, the variance is too much for the VDC on the sedan to be happy.
Also of interest, Falken does make a ZE502 in 245/35R19. Diameter 25.9", 768revs/mi. The variance is greater between the Falken and Bridgestone of the same size (about 0.7%) than between the Bridgestone and smaller Falken. For these particular models, it looks like Bridgestone's tire is a little bigger, and Falken's tire is a little smaller, than the theoretical measurement of a tire at that size. Interesting.
Pesti: You need to get two more Falken's, or return the ones you got for two more Bridgestones. And correct the alignment issues, assuming there's no rubbing.

Re: Needing help -- can I drive like this???
Just somthing to add to RYOKEN's post above.. For the first day I had the Falken tires on the front both my VDC light and the SLIP light would turn SOLID (meaning VDC is disabled) after one mile of driving. This morning on my 20 mile commute to work..neither the lights turned on, and i did verify that the traction control was ON... so im guessing if the ECU accepted these tire changes as the "norm".
