I'm averaging 11-12, and that's with staying below 4000 rpms. I only have 300 miles on her, so I'm hoping it gets better after an oil change around 600 to get all the sh*t out.

I know feeding 300 ponies is demanding, but I hope to get at least 16 in the future.
I am getting about 17 with my 05 automatic. That is actually less than my wifes 8 passenger Honda Pilot. But boy is it fun to drive. Even with the slushbox. I have to say that my old 5 speed manual 330i did a lot better on gas mileage. I could get 22 or 23 on the same route that I drive my G. However, it wasn't any fun to drive so that is why I got rid of it.

hmm...
I filled up the tank for the first time last night. I thought it was almost empty but there was 4 gallons in the tank. Thus, my mileage was better than I thought - 15mpg. Gas was sure expensive but whatever.
I have an 05 sedan auto. First tank with mostly wide open highway miles at 71 mph, resulted in 25.02 mpg. Second tank with local driving mixed in got 19.6. Third tank 95% highway wide open miles at 71mph got 24.5. It now has just over 1,000 miles on it.
I hope the mpg increases a little with premium at 2.45 a gallon.

There is one factor that I haven't seen anyone mention. That is the tire size. Some have replaced their wheels and tires with larger size. If you change the overal diameter of the tire by say 1", it changes the circumference of the tire by 3.412", which theoreticaly takes less revolutions of the wheel to travel one mile. This throws of the speedometer which in turn gives an odometer reading of less miles than actualy traveled. The amount of fuel used is a function of the weight, resistance (wind and friction of drive train) and acceleration, which doesn't change regardless of the wheel & tire assembly diameter (energy required to move a certain mass a certain distance). What this means is that you have actually traveled more miles than shown on your odometer and when divided by the number of gallons of fuel used will yield a lower MPH value than it actually is. Did I totally confuse everyone?
How are you calculating your mileage? I don't see how you could be getting 12 mpg unless something is drastically wrong or your calculation is off.
To my namesake: The odometer reading will not be accurate if your overall wheel + tire diameter is changed from stock unless it is reprogrammed.

I'm not doing the calculations... going by what the factory Fuel Efficiency program is reporting, but off hand calculations seem to match: 200 miles on the trip odomoter until i refill, 17 gals to fill... seems to match the computer pretty closely.
I am beginning to get concerned something is wrong. Oddly enough, I was only getting 9 day I took delivery. Brought the car in for PDI the next day, and it bumped up to 11-12.
I think I'm going to get it up to 500-600 miles, change the oil to get the junk out and see what happens. If it doesn't improve then, I'll take it in.

Now for my disappointment - my second fillup only gave me 15.5 mpg vs the 17.1 I got for the first. Also, at the same gas station, gas went from 2.899 to 3.019 in just over a week. OUCH!
