Ready to pick up my '05 6MT Sedan And New Member
The forum is telling me this is a dupe... I cant find the first one in the thread listing. I'm a noob so I'm not sure if this is a dupe (are new threads moderated before appearing in the listing?). If it is, I'm sorry and thanks in advance to mods for deleting this post. I'm posting this one from IE, does this forum not work with Firefox?
Hello everyone! I just purchased a base '05 G35 sedan, black on black with the six speed transmission. I'm taking delivery in a couple of weeks. I got a great deal because it has no options and I'm taking it off the lot the day that it comes in (the dealer doesn't have to pay to insure it). I'm stepping out of a Lexus GS300 (would recommend) for the 298HP and the sick gear box
I know that I didn't get any options, but I can't find out anywhere (I didn't bother to ask at the dealership because I was so amp'd about the deal I was getting) if the car comes standard with nicer/different wheels than the Auto Transmission, in dash CD changer or just a single disc (how does the non-Bose system sound?) and does the base model still have volume controls for the stereo on the steering wheel? The only one they had to show me was a customer's 6MT that was in for service and that car had the hot wheels (the very split 5 spokes).
I could have also gotten a good deal ($1,200 more) on the 6MT coupe, but I'm not into the 19" wheels here in NJ in the winter and I don't believe in pouring money into wheels (and subsequently, tires). The Brembos are dream brakes though. Coming from the GS300, I'm accustomed good brakes - the Lexus really drops anchor. The one thing that car was good at was going slow
Not to rag on the coupe (it is such a good looking car), but it is a *really* small car as compared to the perfect-sized and perfectly-priced sedan.
I got the car at Flemington Infiniti (salesman Michael Brandt 908-782-6868) and they were amazing. If anyone in NJ is looking for a G35, I would go there. The owner of the dealership owns a few minor league baseball teams in the area and he came out and gave us free tickets to see a game. This is the 3rd Inifniti we've purchased from this dealer in the past 6 months (two I35s before they stop making them) and every time we go the experience gets better. The total time from walking into the showroom to appraising the trade to signing the papers took 3 hours.
Hello to everyone on the board, I'm looking forward to any advice you have for me and my new G35. Also, I'm really into detailing so I hope to contribute some knowledge in that area of the forum. The day I pick up the car I'm washing it with Dawn, then with P21 car shampoo, then putting Klasse all in one then Klasse sealer glaze and at least one coat of P21s. I'm sure that the black paint is going to look sick on this one.
Enjoy the rest of your day,
John in NJ

Congrats! I think you choose well. I also bought a base 6mt a few weeks ago. Some of the premium options would be nice but it sucks in that you have to get everything as a package. The cool 18" wheels are part of the sport suspension package which you can get as an option on an auto car, but it's standard on a 6mt. Other than that, I don't think the 6mt comes with any different equipment than the auto. Steering wheel controls are standard on every G. If you want to learn more about the options, just go to Infiinit.com or edmunds.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of deal did you get?

Thanks
Now I'm really excited to know that i'm getting the 18s and the sport suspension. Infiniti's web site is really light on information. I'll have the car as early as next sunday or as late as two weeks from this sunday. I'm going to throw some good wax on it and take some pictures. I don't believe in putting money into my car, but I'm really eyeing a carbon lip spoiler for the trunk because it looks so clean and I won't have to get it painted to match. Also, I work at Circuit City and I get a deep discount on car audio so I might do a system somewhere down the line.
I ended up getting the car for 28,700 (dealer invoice) but to me I really got it for 27,700 because they gave me $1000 more on my trade (which was pretty beat up). I know the carsdirect price is 28,400 for the 6mt, but that price isn't realistic when your walking into the dealership in NJ. Honestly, I have no basis for knowing if this is a good deal or not, but to me it can't be beat because I got into a beautiful and fast car for $3,000 less than an Accord Hybrid (the first car I looked at because of the 255hp and the 39mpg). The Accord didn't even come with a spare tire, just one of those repair kits that come with the BMW M3 with runflats (and the Accord def. didn't have runflats). That kit does me no good if I get a sidewall blowout. Also, I don't mind changing a tire or calling AAA.

Finance Question
The finance rate was low, 3.99%. Usually if they don't get you on the sticker, they get you on the backend. However, this was not the case. Also, they put together a really attractive lease. It was 39 months (I assume this was because I was getting a lot of miles on the lease, it is late in '05 and hasn't been driven yet so they can make up the difference in the miles by extending the term instead of charging me for extra miles) for $473@22,000 miles/year and just first payment + destination + fees down with a residual value of $15,000 at lease end. We would have done that, but I drive too much to lease (even with 22k miles) and my parents want to give me the car as a graduation present in May.

My sticker was actually $36,200). My selling price was $33,500. However, your residual is very low. Is that because of the 22K per year?

I have almost the same setup, except I also have the premium. Anyway yesterday I washed then put a coat of Klasse all in one then Klasse sealer glaze. All I can say is Oh my god, this thing really shines. I thought I looked good when it was new 3 mo. ago. I was turning some heads today.

I think my payment was high because of the 22k miles, and your payment is low because you got a killer deal. It is almost not enough to explain a $13 swing, but 22kmiles/year is a ton of miles and I would really be beating on *their* car if I was turning it in with 71k miles. Also, I never dealt on the price of the Lease, so I'm sure the payment would have went down a lot. That was the price when we were working off of $30,000.

Keep it looking wet. Do you use Klasse by hand? I've been hand applying it and I find that it is the easiest thing in the world to put on. The only pain is that if your car has a lot of dirt on it you have to clay before you Klasse; clay is terrible to work with.By the way, I drove an '04 G35x last night and that thing was fast. The only problem was that the AT was really slow to shift in tiptronic mode. I took it up to 6k rpm in first and tapped the stick - nothing. The car hit the rev limiter before it actually put it in second, then from second to third I tried to shift it well short of the redline and it still rang the bell and overrevved it. I have two of the '04 G35xs in my driveway right now (both service loaners for other Infinitis) and it is a beautiful sight. Hopeflly I will be able to take a picture of three G35s in my driveway at the same time. Great photo op.
Mine is the same model colorl package and everything your getting except I have a sunroof. Bare bones, only sunroof. It comes loaded otherwise.
All the premium stuff is really a waste imho of the extra 2-3k.
