Wink PLeaseantly Surprised (MPG)

calculated my fuel economy for the first time since owning my sedan, and i was pleasantly surprised. 327 miles on 15 gallons of gas. i'll do the math for you. 21.8 mpg. that's in the rarified air of colorado, running the a/c everytime i am in the car, combination of city/highway 50/50.

here are some other tips for saving fuel i found on my home page today.

Yep, that's about right. You will see a significant drop if you do more than 70% city driving though. I consistently see 18-19mpg in mostly city driving (70%+ city).

My last fillup, I got 19.6, and that's mostly city/freeway driving, I didn't get that good until I was close to 10k on my '04!

Why do some people whine that they aren`t getting 30 mpg? My daughter gets about the same mileage on her new Ford Freestyle AWD as I get with my X, but I get a helluva lot more grins per mile. The G is a Sport Sedan, not an econobox! I don`t want it any other way (except when I pay the gas bill!)

So one of the tips says: driving with your windows down actually consumes more fuel than using the A/C because it creates so much aerodynamic drag.

What do u guys think?

I get between 17-18 mpg but I don't consider that to be bad because I have to take into consideration that my wife is always telling me to slow down and my mother in law was once praying in the back seat. Now keep in mind my mother in law doesn't speak english (chinese) but I knew what those whispers were... which was confirmed when my wife told me to slow down because I was scaring her mother

So all in all my gas mileage is pretty damn good

wonder what the max is anyone has seen on the MPG recorder. I had mine hit 51mpg once...going down a very steep slope for a few good miles ~65-70mph I think.

Yes. Significant drag is created at highway speed if you've got the windows down.

I just made a new record on my 04 sedan. I got it to last 400 miles on one tank of gas. The last 35 miles was with light on and then 15 more miles when the info read " *** " as completely empty.

I do 70~ city driving, about 100 miles day, and about 8-10 stops a day at customer sites. All city. I got my last tank 376 before I filled up and only put in 17~ gallons.

The Auto loaner I had didn't do as good as my 6mt, it got around 19-20.

I don't know how many miles you have on your odometer, but if your car is relatively new, your mileage should improve. My previous car was an Audi TT and I averaged around 22 mpg when the car was new, but my gas mileage improved to 26 mpg when I had 15K miles on the engine.

When my car was new I checked it around 18mpg and with 30K I just checked it recently and it was about the same. No significant difference for me at all

I usuall don't run my gas below a 1/4 but my wife got home the other day and I had to fill it up, she had gone 370 miles (617KM) on that tank (about 85% hwy) on our G35X. The very best mileage we have done is 9.86 L/100 km.
