Good news on MPG ront

400 mile new 05, 6MT
415 miles left to empty (Info screen on NAV)
125 miles since last fillup
Drive mixture: 75% freeway(70 mph), 25% city
Change gears before 2500 RPM
I guess I am getting mid 20's MPG
Looking forward to improve mileage after break in

I track every tank of gas. After one year, here is the chart. Average for the first year is 21.8 mpg. In short, after 5000 miles, mileage started to get better. And lower mileage in winter.

80-90% driving is highway (70-80mph), occasionally traffic.

i am content w/ my higway mileage (@80mph too).

What disappoints me is the city driving. I am in the high 12s ..maybe 13mpg..this is according to the trip computer.

Try shifting around 2500 RPM and that should help significantly. Low end torque is pretty strong.

Just over 3000 miles here. Averaging 22 MPG, worst tank was in the mid 18 MPG range.

I have a light foot overall, but do enjoy the occasional blast 'to speed' and back.

I can't argue that shifting below 2,500 RPM will improve gas mileage but if you pursue that strategy to excess, you may end up with problems that are significantly more expensive than the gas saved. Lugging the engine could cause premature wear of bearings and pistons. Other problems like increased oil consumption and carbon buildup are also possibilities.

It's your dime, but I'd rather not risk the damage to a high performance engine, like the VQ35, by running it significantly below its design parameters.

Yes be careful short-shifting, either with rpms or gears. It can be done properly, tho, so that you don't lug the engine.
