debadging a 2 year old G, should I be worried?

Hi Gang

I want to debadge my 03.5 6MT I purchased last weekend. It has 29K on it and in pretty good condition overall. I am not sure how well it was taken care of, stored, etc, since I purchased it from a dealer in IL.

Ao I am a bit worried that when I take my rear badges off on the trunklid I will have outlines that will not buff out or the paint underneath look better/brighter than the current paint.

I assume all of them are stuck on as well, correct? I dunno if they have any clips that hold them on and if so, I will not remove them! Don't wanna deal with bodywork. All my searches led me to believe they are just stuck on.

I do plan on getting it fully detailed ASAP at a prominent place here that does fabolous work, so they could possibly make the trunk look good, but I am still a little nervous.

Please advise!

Thanks!

Getting the letters and what not off isn't a big deal. Take a hair dryer outside and heat up whatever you want to take off. Then grab some fishing line and use it to saw down the underneath of the letters/emblems. Heating it up makes the glue a little easier to take off and the fishing line will ensure that you get most of it.

You didn't mention what color you have. Some colors fair better than others in the fade department. But to be honest you won't really know if the color is faded or not until you take them off. If it was me, I would start with like hte g35 lettering and just take one off. If everything looks good try the rest of it. Then work on getting the extra glue off and polishing it up.

If all that works okay, then I would continue on. If not, then all you need to do is reattach whatever you took off. You should be able to go to a auto store and buy the necessary glue/stickpads to put the letters back on.

just my .02
