What is the point of replacing it?

Hey guys...I'm not really aware of what the midpipe does. Does it enhance horsepower?

It's arguable if the coupe midpipe adds horsepower--the sedan midpipe is a straight-through design like the coupe's. However, the coupe midpipe will definetly change the sound of your sedan's exhaust and for the better. In fact, I think a sedan with a stock muffler and coupe midpipe sounds better than a completely stock coupe. A sedan's exhaust with this configuration sounds deeper, with a nice burble when you lift off the throttle, compared to a stock coupe which is much higher pitched (and wimpier in my opinion).

All the sedan premuffler does is make a lazy S turn, hardly a vise compaired to a straight shoot when were talking about such a short distance and such a low radius turn. The real issue, one that the coupe premuffler might also suffer from, is that the pipe diameter narrow's right when the exhaust pipe goes into the premuffler body and stay's that way until it exist's the premuffler body. Only way we'll know if the coupe premuffler suffer's from the same problem is to slice the exhaust pipe off right before it enters the premuffler body, which is how I removed my sedan premuffler.

Biggest reason to do the coupe premuffler mod is weight savings and sound quality. If your after power you'd be better off installing a Magnaflow 4" round muffler 22" long, that way you know for a fact that you have a 2.5" pipe diameter begining to end.

I had a 05 6MT sedan, and i switched the coupe mid pipe months ago. To my surprise when i took the 05 OEM mid pipe out, the size is actually smaller than the previous model and is comparable to the coupe pipe, but the weight is much heavier when i compare the both of them.

For me, the sound didnt change much after install, but it definetly saved some weight.

Then go find you a 350Z with a midpipe they don't need anymore. We took the midpipe off of a 350 and put in on my husband's '05 6MT - there was a HUGE difference in the size and weight of the resonator (sp?) from the G to the Z. This did require a small modification of the length of the pipe however so the install cost us $90 for the labor and the extra parts. The 350 guys (most of them) don't know what they have though as far as what people are willing to pay for them. Got ours for $25 from the guy.

Hey Gsedan35, i thought you had a custom made True Dual?
i am thinking about making a 2.5" custom exhaust (but not TD)
like JIC y-pipe, magnaflow resonators, magnaflow muffler
