HID equipment is valuable because they are still relatively new to the common driver. Its popularity due to its classy color look, brightness and wide field of vision for the night time makes it very popular.
People familiar with HID, but do not have them in their vehicle know how great they are on the road.
The first thing they look up is the internet to get some information on how to acquire them. Check out E-Bay and bingo lots of HID bulbs, ballasts and projectors. These headlamps whole runs $1,200-$3,000 at a dealership however; on E-bay it runs $200-$400 max.

To criminals stealing HID equipment for free and selling them back to the 'black market" is a profitable business.
this is what i'm waiting for to get my projector retro fit from the '06 coupes.
i don't want to pay full price for projectors.

Shouldn't you be turning those "guys" in?

around my way dont care if they damage the car. they just want those headlights out. i think they could care less if they damage my car. and as far as turning them in, they didnt actually commit the crime cause my neighbor stopped them before they could even start.

The 05 G35 is one of the hardest Hid's to steal. I know for a fact because I changed the bulb from white to the Hella blues and to do that the entire front bumper has to come off. If you try to just yank out the light you'll just damage everything.
Nah..
They just pop them out with a bar (snaps the tabs off) 10 sec per light.
They don't care about the light just the HID parts.

I did not know this car has the same problem as my 02 Maxima I got rid of. If I knew this I may have optioned for something else or kkep my Titan. I hate the fact that they make these headlights so easily to steal.

You took off the whole front bumper??? why??? all you gotta do is turn the wheel and take off the dust cover and bam! there's full access to the fogs and the HID's. But if you wanna do it the hard way be my geust

Get a $400 viper alarm with dual piezo horns, once that alarm goes off those guys will be bleeding out the ears and they wont wanna fu*k with your $hit again.

A $400 Clifford G5 is also loud as hell. It honks your horn in unison with its own siren. It sent car thieves running from my Civic on more than one occasion. I'm trying to convince myself to buy one BEFORE I buy rims for the G.

alarms do nothing, when was the last time u heard a car alarm go off and someone cared, more of a nuisance then deterent..they could pop out the headlites and begone with in a few secounds, alarm will do nothing,,or they pop ur hood and disconnect ur alarm before going in to doors. no alarm is safe for a theef.

Just had a satellite tracking system installed in my '05 G. If the alarm goes off the tracking company calls my cell phone and me and my Remmington 870 (holds 6 in the tube) greet the thieves.

Bingo.. we have a winner.. I had my HIDs stolen.. and its literally a one minute job for both of them.. the damage cost $4500 to fix

I stuck a Viper alarm on with Proximity.. since then (knock on wood) it's all good.

Your only half right. If the thieves try to take the car or headlights when the owner is near by (like his driveway) then it will help. And the alarm will sound if the hood is released. Now if you're in a movie theatre when someone tries to take the headlights...you're screwed.
