This feeling was prevalent during hard acceleration as I would be thrust immediately into the seat by the initial surge. The coupes suspension is definitely tighter so that initial surge into the seats wasn't felt as much. I gave that loaner a workout
I think the power just isn't that different from one another...however, the coupe handles leagues better imo (stock at least). The pilot sports really help in aggressive cornering and the sedan was a bit too soft to my liking.

Your sedan loaners probably didn't have the sport suspension that your
coupe has.
I asked and according to the dealer, the sport suspensions on both cars are the same

There was actually a VERY big difference pre-05 in terms of slalom (around 2mph). However, the 2005 sedans with sport suspension still record around 65 mph while the coupes still do 67 mph. Tires, ride height, and stiffness are probably the reasons.
The 19" wheels don't help acceleration in the 05-06 coupe...especially with a few more pounds. The sedan has 18"s (sport package) right? Makes a bigger difference than some of you might think. I've owned both and I can honestly say the coupe handles and performs better...but that was 04, when the power wasn't as equal.
I test drove the 04 6spd sedan and the 05 AT sedan and the 05 AT felt a lot stronger. I'm not the best manual driver, but I'm certainly not the worst. Then I drove the 05 in autostick mode... holy wow! The power just kept coming where the 6spd felt a little sluggish. The autostick shifts were so smooth and fast. The 04 did have 18K and the 05 had 6K so it may have been a matter of engine age. But the difference was very noticable (aka.... the butt dyna was off the charts)
Aren't the 05+ Coupe 19s forged and about 19lbs each? While the sedan's versions arent'?

Yes the Coupe has Forged wheels and my car has cast wheels but from what I have heard the tires on the coupe wheels makes them heavier than the 18" w/tires on the 05. I just had the aero package added to my 05 Sprt/Prem and I have noticed that my car does perform better with it. I was going for looks but gained a better road feel to the car in addition...
buddy..
i am not against anyone here..
since i have a 04 sedan..
and God.. i love my sedan (especially when it was still modded)
however, when recalling the old times... about 1 year ago lol..
when i just got the car (at around 2k kms)... and when my car
first still bone stock (stupid tuzanna), a coupe tried to play
around with me at Queens park ..(if you guys know toronto..
it is a pretty damn windy...street with a small hill), when i was
at the straight..we were dead even..but when it was at the
curves..i just didn't feel comfortable with pushing my bone
stock sedan anymore...
this might be because of the tuzanna ..or because of the higher
centre of gravity than the coupe...
yet, after i took my tuzanna and stock sway away... and replaced
with some goodies... it was totally another story lol
go sedan!
cheers,
Godmans

unless you are talking about the performance accelerating above 120 or so MPH, adding the aero package is not going to help your car perform any better....if anything it will be slower due to added weight. At high speeds where a little less Cd will be noticeable, the aero kit might let you pull (very slightly, probably not even noticeable) on a non-aero sedan. Of course it looks cool though and that is what matters.
Front wheel drive's like the maxima feel even faster. The loaner I-35's we used to get 2 years ago where amazing off the line with that VQ torque getting to the wheels all the faster. THe thing may take a right turn the whole time and you have to get into a little slap fight with the steering wheel but the power was seemingly better than the G.
The tiny little bit of pride us Auto driving 03ers have even after all the extra power ratings and rev up motirs and new found luxury passed us by is our light weight. An 03 5AT with a coupe middy and other weight reduction take this car closer to 3300 pounds which means it's more BMW like in the turns. It takes off like a rocket when the "surge" hits at 3200 rpm or so. My car feels so light on it's feet right now it's night and day when compard to the 05 loaner. I am jealous of the rev matching and higher revving on the 6 speeds but i'm not trading in or up for a long time. Torque multiplication is fun - love my AT.
