Quote: That's exactly what I think is. You guys need to try the double clutch method I described. It makes like much easier for the syncros and entering a deep gear at speed.

The point is though, that double clutching SHOULD not be required on a car with syncros...

Even the best syncronized trannies on the market have problems with entering deep gears (ie 1st gear) at a slow roll. Every manual I've driven from the T56s (F-body/Vette/Viper), T5s and T45s (Stang), my Maxima's 5MT, and even my old Honda Accord and CRX Si exhibited resistance going into 1st at speeds from 1 to 15mph. The simple fix was double clutching. Chances are every manual car you'll drive will exhibit this problem to some degree.

You've got to face the music, Infiniti isn't going to fix this.

Ditto that. I never enter 1st gear unless fully stopped. The engine has plenty of torque to pull away in 2nd gear from a slow roll.

Plus, using taller gears helps conserve fuel!

I agree too. If you can't downshift or upshift into any gear above 1st without double cluthcing or grinding/noises, then you've got a problem. As you've probably experienced, entering reverse seems to be a common problem with a lot of manuals too because the tranny sometimes gets torque locked from the weight of the car and/or the reverse lockout is a bit tight. I always found that pushing in the clutch, taking my foot off the brake, put the car in 2nd, foot back on brake, and then select reverse always made for a entry into reverse.
