Picking up new sedan Saturday!

My first post – and a warm hello to all.

Bought a new ’05 medium blue sedan, auto, all options except sport suspension and aero package. Knew nothing about this car, wife and I test drove it last weekend, and ordered one Monday.

This will be her daily driver, mine is an ’01 Z51 6 speed Corvette coupe. I must say, I was mighty impressed by the G35’s quickness and handling. Standard suspension (IMHO) is perfect blend of comfort and agility. And equipped with the premium package and navigation, the comfort and amenities are impressive.

Am picking up the G35 Saturday (bought via internet, dealer 120 miles away), and I am confident that it will perform as per my initial impressions.

Got it for $1,000 under invoice. The dealer had 100 of them in stock. Was this a good price? I didn’t do much research, just found the closest dealer that had what we wanted, and negotiated best price I could.

Will let you know how the initial ride home was! Can’t wait.

So which one are you getting... Coupe or Sedan? Title says Sedan, post says coupe .

None-the-less, congrats on the G. Break her in properly and then you can play hard.

OOPS - meant Sedan. Edited my post.

Can you tell me what the break in time / procedure is on a G?

Breakin period is not too bad, but I was tempted to push it alittle more (mayba have slipped a few times ).

From the manual:

During the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km),
follow these recommendations to obtain
maximum engine performance and ensure
the future reliability and economy of your
new vehicle. Failure to follow these recommendations
may result in shortened engine
life and reduced engine performance.
Avoid driving for long periods at constant
speed, either fast or slow. Do
not run the engine over 4,000 rpm.
Do not accelerate at full throttle in any
gear.
 Avoid quick starts.
Avoid hard braking as much as possible.
Do not tow a trailer or haul a heavy
load for the first 500 miles (800 km).

I make this recommendation to everyone who buys a G.... Get a ClearBra. If you are not familiar with this it is a paint protection film. I, as well 99.9% of the others here, recommend it. Will protect your paint from chips, bug guts, etc, which are known to mess up the G's beautiful front end.

For more information do a search and ask the Florida guys for installers in your area.

Congrats on the purchase of your new G sedan. Yes, as mentioned, you should consider a clear bra type product. Enjoy your new G.

I have an 05 G35 with 2600 miles on it. I understand now why you guys recommend the clear bra. Is it too late to have it installed? I have one small paint chip on the front lower portion of the bumper but I know I will get more. Do the dealers install the clear Bra? The car is leased. Do dealers usually charge you for small paint nicks when you turn it in? Is a clear bra something that I can install and not have it void my lease?

Congrats! Anything under invoice is a great deal so you did good. I have not heard anyone getting this kind of deal outside of Cali.

If it's a lease and you don't plan on buying it after, don't both putting the clearbra on. Paint nicks are inherent in owning a car and they should not charge you for it unless it can be proven it's excessive or not taken care of.

Most dealers don't install as it is not a factory accessory.
