*Drumroll*

2006 Chevy Corvette Z06

I'm surprise only one person mention this as being a second car besides me. If you don't like chevy now. You may change your mind after you read the new Motor Trend mag. Well, right now I'm happy with my G35 and SRT4. If I feel like rowing my own gears, scaring pedestrians with my Blow off valve, and want a pure performance feel I ride in the SRT-4. But, if I feel like getting looks from the ladies, a relaxed luxury feel, and rear wheel drive I ride in the G35. Two UNCOMMON cars who for the most part dominate in their respective categories.
Well I thought we were talking realistic cars here. Yea hands down the new Z06 is the best performance per dollar vehicle out there. If I had about 70 large to throw around I don’t think I could resist the temptation to pick one up. However, I don’t have the 70 large and you can’t fit a family of 4 with two car seats in a Z06(legally and comfortably that is). What I can’t believe is that some of these supercars are street legal! Those cars are uncontrollable with that much power. The G35 can get to dangerous speeds very quickly! I can’t imagine something like the Z06 or the Carrera GT. Even the best drivers can’t always handle those cars. Just ask the families of Ben and Corey!

It's none of my business really, but I strongly discourage the Pacifica. The wife had one before her G, and she loved it. As far as the vehicle goes, it was a great car. Tons of capacity, nice features, and a splendid interior and driving comfort. We didn't have any issues mechanically or from a quality perspective. My only complaint was it was underpowered; the same 3.5 v6 that's used in the 300M, is just not torquy enough for something as heavy as the Pacifica.

So yeah, we loved it. However, when it came time to deal it to get another G, we got hurt. Granted, we didn't keep it long, only 15 months. But when we got it, it stickered for ~39k, and when we got rid of it, it appraised at only ~18k. It just won't hold it's value. AT ALL. However, that means you could get a reasonably equipped model, used, for quite cheap.

WOW! That is horrible resale value for the Pacifica! That is definitely a plus for Sport Utes like the Honda Pilot and Acura MDX. They are holding their values quite well. However, I haven’t tried to sell mine yet so I don’t know what you would get in the real world. The KBB trade in value for an 03 with 30K miles is $22.5K and the sticker price was only $32K. Although, I imagine that it is hard to sell a Sport Ute right now with gas prices as high as they are.

practical.... who said anything about a second car being practical? practicality is for your first car (obviously on this forum, a g35). hence the term 'second car'.

Well I am not sure about you but if my car can’t fit two car seats in it then I can’t use it! I guess we just have different priorities or maybe different dependencies? I think I was looking at the thread differently. I was under the impression that most families only have two cars. So your second car still has to be practical for the whole family. It sounds like you are looking at it as this is your own personal second car. In that case yes, if I had the money my second car would be a new 06 Z06 or maybe an EVO IX if I only had half of the money to burn!

i get it. ok. yes. we already have an suv for the family. but it's not MY second car. maybe we should have specified 'recreational vehicle' or weekend car? if you put in your context, the g35 IS my second car.

Trey thanks for the info but my wife will be driving for the most part and she doesn't drive fast or care about power. As for me when I drive we live in Mn and traffic sucks here so you can't drive fast anyway. As for buying new not again you take a beating when you drive of the lot.
