eh I think that speaker stuff is overrated. Go pick out component speakers that match your goals - bass / treble / etc. and a real sub and aftermarket headunit and it will be sick. Thats on my to-do list :-P

At first glance, it looks like alot of other cars just pieced together.

I'll have to see it in person.

That coupe totally looks like the Scion ... not that it's ugly, but it's a damn scion tc! I'm intrigued about the new IS, and Infiniti has every reason to be worried more about the Lexus than the 3 series. However, I think when it comes out, it'll be a tiny car, more of a compact than a true mid-sized sedan like the G ... guess we'll have to wait for them to hit the street. Should make for some more good comparo tests from the magazines at least?

0-60 in 5.5sec. and 1/4mi. in 14 flat, 6 spd auto and a redesign to look like it can hang with the G and 3 series style-wise. Sign me up.

Car and Driver just did a sport sedan comparo in the desert at temps in excess of 100 degrees. The BMW won (big surprise, afterall it is C&D) and the IS came in second with the G35 3rd.

What I found astounding was the performance of the IS. Apparently, despite the heat, the IS 350 did 0-60 in 5.1 secs and the 1/4 in 13.7 secs!!! That is very impressive. That should improve when there are TRD parts are available. The next G35 will hopefully be beefed up to run with it stock for stock.

Well, in my opinion, if the new IS isn't much larger than the current IS, it's not a true competitor to the G35, funny, the Lexus website has the G35 listed as a "key competitor" to the ES330, huh?

I suspect that car was a ringer. It doesn't seem possible for it to get 5.1 secs in high heat. I don't even think it will get 5.1 at optimal temperature for that matter. So, in cooler temp it's a sub 5 sec car? Yeah right! Especially when everywhere else, I've seen from 5.6 to 6+ secs.

Is it me or does the rear wheel well look strange. It makes the back wheels look too small and the body of the car too fat.

The IS350 looks great. Should be a big winner for Lexus. This may raise the bar for Infiniti with regard to its future offerings . . . And that wouldn't be so bad.

All the reports that I have read put the IS250 in the same price range as the G35 Sedan. The IS350 is guaranteed to be higher and slightly more than the G35 coupe..

I agree, & there lies the problem. I am currently an 03 G in Canada & now looking to buy a 05 X, or M35X, because we need AWD in snow. The 350 does not come as an AWD & just over 200 hp in the 250. I would be going backwards going with the 250 just to get the AWD, & if I could afford it & did not need AWD then the M45 would be where I went.

A Canadian's $.02 worth, but in US$.... I guess my $.01 worth

It's a nice car, and for the price premium I would take it over a 3 series... but it's not worth the price difference, and I'd miss the 6 spd. stick.

I thought about waiting for the IS350, but am glad I saved ~ $8K and got a manual tranny. The G35 is still an incredible value. No question the IS350 will be considerably more...

The G35 and IS350 aren't really comparable. People shop based on similar price points - they decide how much they want to spend, and look at models in that range. If looking at the G35 and the IS350 and they were about the SAME PRICE, then I would consider it more seriously. But if I'm looking at low $40's... that opens up the budget to a lot of other interesting options... and the IS350 really isn't a similar comparison to the G35. The IS250 is, instead...

I might even consider a vette. Yep, there... I admit it.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. I wanted to spend in the mid-thirties and to get a comparable BMW that wasn't a stripped down version, I would have had to pay a lot more. The other factor for some is whether it is a real functional 4door sedan. The G has more interior room, front and rear. If I were to compromise on that, I would have started looking at coupes.
