Updating ECU for 2004 Sedan

I have a 2004 G35 sedan. It is not the '04.5 model and as a result, when I enter the manumatic shifting mode, the display does not show the gear that the car is currently in. It will display 5th gear even if the car has dropped to 3rd.

In any event, before I call the dealership to see if I can get the ECU flashed with the most current firmware, I would like to know if any of you have had your ECUs updated as part of the warranty service, or if you know of anyone who has. I hope that the dealership will update it free of charge, but I imagine they may not as there is nothing "wrong" with the car. I have not found any TSBs relating to the ECU either. Thanks

Please explain what you mean. Do you mean to say that it is not possible because you believe no dealer will perform the ECU update? Or do you mean that our model ECU is simply incapable of being updated with the newer firmware?

Forget all the deatails, but the 4.5 ECU is a different unit not just reprogrammed.
