Window vibrations

Okay guys....I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. And it isn't a very positive one either in regards to my new Serengetti Sand '05 sedan that is barely 3 months old. About a week after I took the car home I started noticing that both front windows would vibrate while driving and also slightly with a CD playing. I take it into the shop and they say they can't hear anything. I take it back a week later. This time they change the 2 front door seals. Now the rear ones make the "tick tick" sound. Plus the front windows still vibrate. I'm ready to call them and make this the third strike pitch. I mean, I bought this car thinking I was getting into an entry level "LUXURY" car, yet this piece of crap is apparently not put together as solid as the '02 Nissan SENTRA that I sold.....Any ideas on causes of the vibrations? I actually regret that I bought this car.....

Third strike pitch? I don't know what you're getting out there..

The tick-tick is covered by a TSB. Bolts in the rear door mechanism are replaced or some such - I don't ahve it in front of me.

I have none of the woes you list. I'm sure if you're patient your dealer will get you taken care of. If not, go to another dealer and try your luck there. All dealerships are not created equally as I'm sure you know - the same can be said for service departments.

If you're really unhappy, get rid of it. Yeah, it'll cost you money, but I'd rather be out some bucks than sit in a car I'm so unhappy with everyday. I'm not a rich guy..

I also had the vibrations from the windows. Rather than trust the dealer to take the door apart, I tried something else.
I put small strips of foam in the window channel at the top to make the window seal tighter. I WORKED! No more vibrations from all four doors. Took all of 10 minutes for the four doors.
Worth a try, no?

Just thought I would chime in on this.

I have an 05' Sedan with 2k on it. I am going to have the dealer look at it but I bet they blame the tint people, even thought it did it before hand.

Already happened to me, heard a tick, they simply opened the rear window and closed it back, went away, coems abck every now and then. Also, rear doors creak when they are opened and closed, dealer blamed tint, but what does opening the door have to do with the window?

Im not sure about the vibrations you're talking about, but I hope you get it solved.

My windows are also tinted. This had NO effect on the creaking. I used the foam on the rears before tinting and the fronts after tinting. The rears still don't creak and the fronts, which creaked less than the rears, don't creak now.
The mod is an EZ one to do and if it doesn't work, just yank the foam, no harm done.

I had a loud click in the drivers door when the window was up. A few weeks ago I took it back to the dealer and they said that the bolts that secure the window to the window frame were loose. So they applied some kind of sealant and retightened the bolts, for now I do not have that annoying click every time I go over a bump with the window up.

I have a similar problem on my passenger window. The whole time I thought it was coming from the door panel.

Anyway, what kind of foam did you use? Can you share? I'll try that instead of wasting my time explaining to a dumb a$$ at the dealer that's trained to say "I've never heard of that problem before".

We are in the audiovisual business so our road cases come foam lined. So that's what I used. It's very similar to the stuff you get at the hardware store on a roll. It doesn't need to be adhesive backed. It's like an open cell, soft foam. I used 4 pieces across the top of the window, each about 1/2" x 1/2" x 4". Just used a flat head screwdriver to push it in.

Very nice idea - thanks for the tip. I have a little wind noise in my truck that I want to fix before I get on the road. (Getting ready to road trip about 6000 miles). I'll give this a shot - I bet it works.

I don't want the dealer to open up my door panels and I don't ahve time to do it myself right now.

I agree that if I can help it, I don't want to open the door panels either. Good Luck exorcising the wind noise.

Thanks all

just totally venting on this whole issue I guess. It's just that I try to tell myself to ignore the noise, but it never works...and back to my baseball comparison. Yeah, the next visit to the servie department is their third chance, and I'm betting it's going to be a whiff. Hence third strike pitch.

Anywho, I'm thinking about trying that foam fix too....
