Warranty Question - Aftermarket Wheels

My front brakes seem to squeek quite a bit more than normal and I get a lot of brake dust on them regularly, so, I am thinking that they are wearing too quick.

This led me to wonder how the warranty of say brakes, rotors, etc. would be affected with aftermarket wheels on.

Would they void such warranty issues ??

Thanks

Aftermarket wheels do not effect your brake warrenty. However, lots of dust is a common problem on the cars previous to '04 and the '05 X. Most of the time squeeking is from the pads and doesn't denote rotor or caliper malfunction. Unfortunatly, there is no warrenty on the pads, as they are a wear item. When you install new pads make sure to mention to the installer to put a little extra "spray" on them because they have a propensity to squeak. The spray that you use when you replace pads (I can't remember what it is off of the top of my head) dampens vibrations that cause squeaks.

If you were to install huge, heavy wheels, I could see a dealer trying to blame the extra weight and mass on your brake wear. I'm not saying it's right, but some service dept. may try that.

I have the '05 RWD and don't get any brake dust. I love the new brakes on the '05. My old '03 was a real pain in the a$$.

I have 10,000 miles on our 05 X and no brake dust complaints, seems like less when comparing to 03, 04 models. I get a bit but I don't think it is abnormal.

Infiniti screwed the x owners in '05 by giving them the smaller brakes from the previous years (LAME). Makes sense right, give the heaviest model the smallest rotors? I have a '05x and brake dust is a big issue.

I have 05x with 6,000+ miles. It gets brake dust but it's nothing you can't easily wipe off with a wet cloth.
