Hello to all. I would like your honest opinions. I got my G 35 a few weeks ago, and am interested in getting some aftermarket parts such as, exhaust, CAI, clear corners, aluminum pedals etc... The problem that I am having, is that I have never paid retail for anything, and I think that it is an insult to do so. I have been able to negotiate for parts for every other car that I have owned. None of the retailers such as: Grubbs, Intense, Stillen, etc... want to move a dime of their listed prices.
Would you ever walk into a dealership and pay MSRP for a vehicle (1% of consumers)? I am sure that you wouldn't. As a smart >consumer, you would do your research regarding dealer invoice, holdbacks, dealer incentives, etc..., and make the dealer a reasonable offer so that you get a reasonable deal and the dealer makes a profit. Please share your experiences...

I'm not sure I'm following your thought process here, but if you want discounts then take your own advice and do research to find your "deals".Originally Posted by brasil

That is whole thing. I have e-amailed and called some vendors, and they all do not want to move a penny from the listed prices on the website. Has anyone been able to negoitate with any of the vendors? If so, please PM me the contact info. I hope that my thought process is now clear....

i don't think grubbs is at msrp. i bought clear corners from them for 30 bucks and it is the best deal anywhere. other places have them for at least 45 they have great service too, just give them a try.
Thanks Mohawk, I did contact them and they said that the best that they could do is the prices listed in their site.

Hey, brasil. Being in the retail business, I can tell you that competition on the internet is viscious and I would be suprised if anybody would let you talk them down a dime on their web prices. Just do your online investigation and buy from whoever has the lowest posted price on what you want. I guarantee you that you won't be paying retail. No vendor in their right minds would advertize full retail prices on the web, because nobody would order anything!!
BTW, I hope you are not the kind of guy that negotiates on anything and everything. I waited behind a guy at a local department store for half an hour the other day while he tried to get a "deal" on some jeans and shoes from the manager of the department. He said he "felt insulted" to pay retail too. He wound up embarrassing himself by acting like an idiot, and paying the "on sale" price for the goods anyway after the manager told him that he could either pay the price everybody else does or leave!!

It's not a flea market or a garage sale. You have to find the lowest listed price and pay it, like everybody else does.Originally Posted by brasil

seriously, getting a good deal is one thing, its sounds like you're just being way too ****
No need for flaming guys. Manufacturers set what is called MAP (minimum advertised price), which vendors cannot advertise below the MAP setting. The price needs to be negotiated, if not they would be in violation of the MAP. Let us not be hipocrits... I bet not one of you paid MSRP for your G35, and if you did, I really feel sorry. I myself just bought an 05 for $1835 BELOW invoice, as have several others that have posted recently here as well. Aftermarket parts have a HUGE mark up, I am just trying to get a reasonable deal, that is all.
By the way, I use to own a 500 RWHP Cobra, and it had tons of aftermarket equipment such as BORLA, K&N CAI, pullies, HE, etc... I was able to get ALL items for a substantial savings from the prices posted. Now back to the G, for example, the Stillen exhaust listed at $949.00, that must have a huge mark up!

Well since you are such the expert on great deals then you don't need our help.
Well Skeleton, since I am new to the G world and never bought aftermarket parts for an Infiniti, I was trying to get help from people that have bought aftermarket parts, and which vendors that I should contact, but I guess I will have to do all of the leg work myself, but thank you for the help. I really appreciate it.
I sure will Bert! It will be my pleasure to help forum members! I use to be a manager in a car dealership, so I know a thing or two about negotiating.
