I Finally Beat Him At The Track!!!!!

Last night we went to the test and tune night at a local track - granted only an 1/8 mile.

Well the time we ran heads up I beat him with 9.66! Later in the evening on another run he did make a better time (I'll let him go on about that - ya'll know he will ). I'll give him the better time later on but at the point we ran I beat his best time so far as well as on that run.

Ok, so the bragging rights didn't last very long but I was a very happy lady for about an hour or so.

Sorry, but I must provide a correction. We ran heads up twice in a row. The second time you beat me straight up.

The coolest thing about you beating me on that run was the fact that in my opinion, I had a great run going. My reaction was a pretty quick .536. My launch was a decent 2.286. There's not a single thing I can point to that I did wrong on that run. So you didn't beat me because I made a mistake. You beat me straight up, so that makes it even better.

It sounds like you both had a great time--Awesome!

Trey- if you think she will EVER miss an op to remind you of the beating, you have another thing coming!
I am an avid big game fisherman, and I brought my wife along on a fishing trip to Belize a few years ago. The first day, she kicked-my-a$$, boating 6 fish before I landed my first......a fact she casually "drops" when the subject of fishing arises these days..

Cheryl: J/K, great driving and congrats.

Wayne.

Congrats on giving Trey's 6MT a run or two. Did you do anything different this go around at the track?

FYI, 9.66 1/8 mile equates to a solid 14.8. Whatever you did looks like you knocked off about .4 seconds off your prior ET.

She "semi-prepped" the car. She removed some stuff from the trunk, but left in the spare and jack. She also removed the engine cover. She still had roughly 3 quarters of a tank of fuel. She also left the tire pressure alone.

One interesting note about her car since it's last time at the track. It now has the 05 midpipe(very marginal change). It also has a set of coupe 18's. I don't know how the weight compares to the stock 04 17's. She also is running a new set of fairly light Kumho all-seasons(26lbs). The original tires were the 215 series turanza's, and the new tires are 245/40's, meaning roughly an extra 30mm contact patch per tire all around. Also, they are are a bit smaller, around 2 to 3%, than the original 17's.

All of these things, though small individually, really added up.

And one last thing? How/what do you use to estimate a 1/8th mile time to a 1/4th mile time? My best time of the night was a 9.52@74.85 (though my best trap was 75.5mph). That was the run where I actually hit a 2.15 60'.

1.54-1.55 depending on who you ask. 1.54 works perfectly for my 5AT's 4 timeslips. Your 9.52 would equate to a solid 14.6. What were her traps?

I only have a record of two of her traps: 74.50 and 71.51. I think on the slower of the two she bounced the limiter. She's still trying to find the "sweet spot" for shifting that auto.

Not really that much that I can is different. I took out my stuff in the truck which I don't think I had that much in there the first go at the track. I had at least 3/4 of a tank of gas maybe a little more but the last time at the track I only had a little over a 1/4 of a tank IIRC. Took the engine cover off while I was there. New wheels since the last trip and new tires. The only other thing that comes to mind is the swap out of the middy for the one off of Trey's car. I did use the manumatic mode and I basically didn't use it at all the last time. Other than those very minor things I can't think of any other factor.

Was just a fluke I guess. I don't expect to have those bragging rights again for a WHILE.

Congratulations.

If my girlfriend ever beat me in a race, I would have to buy a supercharger!

There was some "discussion" at lunch today about whether or not I beat his best time up to the point that we ran. He didn't have his slips with him so I will not concede to this fact until I see it in print. One of the guys at lunch said, "well the marriage just couldn't take it, it all started with a fight over a race..." Got a good laugh out of that one.

Trey,

Great idea to let the wife win one.

J/K. Way to go wife. I'm sure you'd beat me too.
