F1's are very comparable to the Pilot Sports overall, maybe superior in all out handling, maybe a little lower on the quiet/ride side.
Avons are excellent road tires, less flat out performance though, than the other two.
My $0.02

If you the speedometer reads 65mph you are really going 64.2mph with the 245/40's. You could probably also get away with a 245/45/18 or a 225/45/18 depending on if your car is lowered or not. Go to tires.com, then go under the info center and click on the tire calculations and enter your info. It will give you all the dimensions and differences of the stock tires and the new tires in whatever size you choose. Hope this helps

I love in FL also. i have 245/45 18 on my sedan. I also have 13k on my F1s and they will be done around 16k no question. They handle good however they are heavy as ****. 29lbs a tire. I am going to get some PS2s in 245/40 18 on my next set which are 24lbs a tire. My stock wheels/tires weighed 47lbs and my current setup with the F1s is 50lbs. Good tire but it is very heavy. besides from that no complaints.

Performance declines quickly when the sidewalls are bulging rather than standing vertically. 245/45/18 is a better fit for the Sport rims, and they get you within 1.3% of the correct speedometer reading. -T
Yeah I think 245 is a little wide for 7.5'' rims. If I couldn't get the tire I want in 235/45/18 I would probably go with 235/40/18 or 235/50/18.

Larger = higher top speed, slower accel.

i am on my second set of the GS-D3's with the G sedan, first was 225/55/17 now I am running 225/50/17.
for the first 10-12k miles these tires are superior to S-03's, michelin and other max performance tires available in our sizes. after that they are merely equivalent.
straight line traction is the main area that drops. cornering never really deteriorates. In rain (hell even snow, i have run em in 4 inches of really wet snow and up to 6 inches of dry powdery stuff) is almost as good as dry pavement.
I got 21k miles on the first set, I am at 13k miles on this set with 50+/-% left.
They have seen drag strip, road course, day to day and serious canyon runs. I have run 235/50/17 pilot sport and pilot sport a/s's on an altima as well and like has been said, ride quality is the only place michelin has the goodyear. And that is not by much.

I was watching spikeTV today and there was a car and driver test with five different sets of tires on the new bmw 3 series. Don't remember what the others were but in overall on wet or dry, first place came this goodyear eagle tires. So I guess they are very good tires, and also it was cheaper than most of the competiters.

I rotate my tires every oil change. I also religiously maintain 45 psi front and 43 psi rear.
The first set was replaced at 21 k miles and they had just gotten to the wear indicators on two of the tires.
That set saw two roadcourse events and three or four dragstrip appearances, some *** sliding, but no doughnuts or burnouts. Still got the scuff marks on the ceiling
