loss of power steering

I've been autocrossing my 03 sedan this summer and for the first time have run into a problem. After installing Hotchkiss adjustable sway bars and finally getting them adjusted right.(the car handled like a dream, no understeer and oversteer on demand via the throttle) The problem is that when going through a slalom I encountered a loss of power assist during the most violent steering inputs. I also am running 245-40 Azenis st115 tires on 18 inch rims. I have replaced the P/S belt but it doesn't appear worn--not shiny or cracked. Fluid level seems OK too. Any ideas??

It's pretty common for cars to exhibit the momentary loss of power steering when flung through mutliple hard turns. I don't think there's much you can do about it. There's nothing wrong with the system. The problem is it can't handle the voilent and instantaous g loads.
