16" rims for sedan

Hi,

Receiving my brand new 05 aero/prem/6MT sedan tomorrow...

...And already thinking about winter tires (I am in da snowbelt).

I searched threads - didn't find a definite answers, just theory.

Here is a question: has anybody succeeded installing 16" rims on this car?? Would it clear the brakes?

Why 16ths? Because I can buy those for 100 bucks each... alloys.

Thanks

Well, for the same reason - money: 16ths a re much cheaper than 17.

Plan to put 225/60-16ths

Thanks, MikeyMike

Well...If you bought 16's for $100 a pop thats $400.

I've seen people let their rims go for under $300. With that $100 savings it might let you afford winter tires. But I have no idea how much those blizzaks go for..I'm in Cali..no need for those here.

maxcontrol...16"ers won't clear your brakes on your 05. The only one that 16" wheels will fit is the 05 G35X, cause they have smaller brakes.
Here are the brake sizes for the 05 models:
2005 G35 Sedan/Coupe....12.6" front...12.1" rear
2005 G35X AWD Sedan.....11.7" front...11.3" rear
The smallest you can go on your car is 17".
and Congrats on your new sedan .

Ya I have worked hard on trying to find some 16's that will fit on a 2k5

I ended up just getting winter tires for my 18's. Instead of 16" rims and winter tires.

I have the 17" five spoke sport rims with Goodyear RSA all season tires with only 10K miles. I am in Maryland. If your interested we could work something out. Rims and tires are in very good condition.

i have a set of 17" 5-spokes with Michelin Pilot Sport A&S (all-season). one tire has a sidewall damage. the tires still have decent thread left - good for 10-15k miles at least. PM me if interested - i want to get rid of them!

Problem is that I am in Canada (shipping, duties...) and I don't need anything but rims 'cause I plan to put new winter ice/snow tires - not interested in all-seasons /M+S. I can buy basic 16" and 17" alloys in a local store for 100 - 120 Canadian dollars which are ok for winter. Thanks
