28 psi

I'm new to this forum so forgive me if this is a repost.

I have a G35x 17" rims No sport suspension.

I find running my tires at 28psi gives me a much better highway drive than at 30 psi. At 30psi I feel evry little bump. Will this make much of a difference in the tire wear.

Thanks

If you’re running the oem suggested tire size, the psi is on the driver side door jam... I usually keep mine a couple pounds less (I keep 'em at 32). Over or under inflating can cause poor tread wear - if you like the ride at 28 keep an eye on the wear, if it wears quickly or uneven you might make a change. You will also get lower mpg when running that low (in case gas mileage is an issue for you).

The door says 30 psi

By running at 28psi your gonna get a smoother ride but the less psi you run the less mileage your gonna get. You get better gas mileage with more psi (but dont overinflate, dont go over 36psi). So its kinda like you have to pick the lesser of two evil's. It's all on preference. I run my tires at 35psi. Over and Under inflation of tires can have a drastic affect on tire wear. You can get away with 28-36psi without affecting your tire wear.

I have factory size 18's on my 4DR, on the door panel, it says 33psi. When I drive to gas station to check the pressure, they are at 37 or 38 psi. Isn't that normal? Isn't 33psi when car has been parked for awhile or weather is cool/cold?

The door panel states 33 PSI cold. Cold is defined as the car sitting for more than 3 hours or being driven less than 1 mile. If you check the pressure after driving more than 1 mile when the tires warm up the psi will be around 37. So to answer your question, YES this is normal.

depends on you and depends on the tire.

i ran my stock (6mt sedan) tires at 35 psi cold.

i run my goodyear GS-d3's at 45 front/43 rear

took me almost 10k miles on each set to figure out exactly the best compromise between ride, handling, gas mileage and tire wear.

remember, any change to the pressure affects all the above.

i have mine at 40psi. i love the harsh ride. is there any other reason not to have it this high, except for how harsh the ride is?

Potentially uneven or accelerated tread wear.

But why would you love the harsh ride?

Lol the harsh ride makes you feel sporty? that's pretty funny, anyways, running your tires at 40 psi is going to eventually cause your tires to start wearing more in the center. as for running goodyears at 43/45 that's pretty much retarted unless you have the money to spend on a new set of tires every 10,000 miles.

my tire wear was worse with the tires at 35 psi. I get 20-25k miles per set and am on my second set of Eagle F1 GS-D3's with the G35 now.

Please don't call someone retarded unless you know the facts. I probably have more miles on the GS-D3's on a G35 than all but 2 or 3 people on the board (33 thousand miles now, halfway thru my second set). With the six plys of these tires the ride is not harsh, just firm. Anytime you want pics showing even wear front to rear and center of tire to outside of tire, let me know.

I had the OEM 17" with Pilot Sport A/S on my coupe and ran it at 30 PSI and I am getting horrible center wear... it is half the depth of the sides after 10K. THe sides still have the little stubs!!!! I tried running it at 26 psi and I get the TPS warning on cold days....

OEM 17 sucks..... so I got my volk (in sig) yesterday!
