I have a 2005 G35 loaner for 2 days while my car is in for 30k service. The 05 feel tight and well put together then my 04. It feels just like BMWs, which is still my number 1 choices. One thing I love the most is how dramatically the brakes feels. Its totally different then my 04. The brake is precise and firm. Not grabby at all. Its feel smooth to operates and makes the whole car drives differently. Its like a refine german sedan or gentlemen's sedan.
So, What's the differenct between 04 & 05's brake mechanics that makes it feel so good beside the pads?

I am not sure what the exact differences are but they are real. I notice the same thing when I get 04 loaners. It is almost like the 04 brakes are digital(All or nothing). If you press them a little you get nothing if you press them a little more the guy behind you is suddenly in front of you! That being said from my experience and some of the magazine test results the 05 Sedan does not stop as fast as the 04’s. The 05s performance is still good but the previous models could stop like you were throwing out the anchor! I think I would rather loose a little on stopping distance and gain that excellent brake feel of the 05s but that is just me. I guess that is why some people including me waited for the 05.

Unless you're looking for an answer from an Infiti braking system engineer, let's just call the 05s new and improved. It may sound a little picky, but in I literally held off on the 04s because I didn't want to mess around with the expense and hassle of the premature pad wear and dust getting on the rims. All of the interior and exterior updates were just an added bonus to me - glad I waited. The 04s do stop on a dime though, that is for sure!

I know what you're talking about. That's why my cousin bought the A4 instead of G35. I pretty much get down able to handle my super brake at a good 80% of the time but still get the jerk from time to time and its not a good feeling when that happens. I think there should be another recall to fix this crap on a 35k+ luxo sports sedan.

Yes, the 04 brake does stop on a dime. Its saved me from a possible front end collison with another vehicle. Some A88Hole did a sudden stop on freeway entrance ramp but my G was able to stop just inches away form crashing into the dumb son of Bit@#.

Thank you for making my day. That post was definitely the funniest thing I have read in a long time. FYI - We speak English on these boards. The last thing you should worry about is the difference between the 04-05 brakes. How did you get a driver's permit?

Huh?
What's wrong with him asking about the brakes? And I don't see anything wrong with his English.

Oh, didn't know we had an English teacher on the boards! Or is it an English professor? LOL. Lighten up dude. Oh, by the way you mis-spelled "editor" above! LOL! I guess you better go learn English because "we speak English on this board".

Wow, what a dick head this guy is. He was simply asking a question looking for an answer. His english was fine and as for worrying about braking being the last thing to worry about??? I dont know about you but i'd want to worry about my car stopping smooth and not jerky like the ****ty 04's. To answer the original question i dont know exactly what they changed. I do know that the rotors are bigger and it stops smooth and not jerky with a tap of the pedal.Originally Posted by KingJames

It all depends on what you want. I prefer my '03.5 brakes to the ones on an 05 loaner I had for a month. The brakes on our car not only respond to how hard you push the pedal but also how fast you push the pedal. That is why the 03-04's are so touchy
I suspect that Infiniti dialed back the force reactive programing and then switched the pad to a harder substance that lasts longer and doesn't dust as much but also doesn't work as well as the previous system
As for premature wear, I got 25K out of my first set which I felt was about right for any HP brake system. Others have gotten considerably less. New rotors and pads can be bought from Kragen and pep boys for about $175. I will gladly trade off $175 for brakes that could one day save my life.

I just assumed M500 was a product of the SoCal public schools. His English is much better than my Thai, German, or Siberian. As for the brakes, my `04 G-35X has the best brakes I have ever had on a street-legal car. Most mags also commented on the effectiveness on the G`s brakes. There are trade-offs. Dust, grab, etc.

Not sure what do you meant by your comment besides not providing an anwser to the question. It dosen't sounds like you're a car guy when you can't tell the major differences in braking system.
