Another 05 positive attribute-no brake dust

I have my 05 now for 5+ mos and 7K miles and I have yet to notice any signs of brake dust. It is amazing to me when I drive that I now notice how many cars have loads of brake dust on their front wheels and how ugly it looks. When I get a new car in the future, I will definitely make brake dust a consideration in my decision (for the cynics out there-yes I would take a Carrera with brake dust, lol). Kudos for the 05 G35 in eliminating the brake dust problem.

Well, there is brake dust in the front, but it's so minor that it's not worth mentioning (even though I just did). My wife's Mazda 3 gets moderate brake dust in the rear and none in the front. My homeboy's STI gives off a monstrous amount of brake dust from all 4 wheels. His wheels are always disgusting. It really pisses him off.

It is strange how there is really no brake dust but I'm not complaining. I really love the feel of the 05 brakes. Whatever Nissan did, I applaud them. I drove a friend's loaner 04 and that thing grabbed strong. The brakes felt more responsive but that's because they grabbed hard right from the start. Looking up 60-0 braking distances, it seems the 05 is the same as the 04 (111 ft).

The '05 brakes require little to no cleaning with regard to brake dust . . . Amen!

I believe the 05's have a bigger caliper/rotor/brakepads that would make it impossible for it to fit the 04, it's a completely different system.

I have had the same, no brake dust, even after two weeks between washes my wheels are still free of black dust & mud, now they just get dirty. I really like the feel of the '05 brakes over the '04, it was impossible to stop smoothly, I am glad I traded up to the '05, (many other things are nicer on the '05 as well, but my main thing was the brakes!) I will always research brakes from now on myself.

The brakes are different, larger rotors and calipers. For some reason, the '05 X still had the same size brakes as the '03-'04's, don't know if the pads are different, but for '06, they all have the same size brakes, good move Infiniti!

Yeah...I have an '04 and the break dust issue really sucks. Can anyone recommend brake pads that perform like the stock pads do, but don't emit so much dust!? I too am curious as to how they cured this w/ the '05's! I'd love to cure this before I get my 19's (just ordered some). Thanks.

Be glad you don't have a european car, I swear my Volvo would be black after a carwash in a day of city driving. I don't know what it is w/ volvo / bmw / mercedes but they are all brake dust kings. It is def nice to not have to scrub to get that crap outta there, and looking good for longer.

Well, our 2005 G35X has lots of brake dust on the front wheels. Currently have 3500 miles on the car and have been observing brake dust since we got it. Will definitely be watching the wear characteristics. Apparently the non-AWD sedans have different pads.

And different rotors and calipers-
I get a pretty fair amount of brake dust on my x-
This setup seems like it might be short lived.

Yes the '05's are much better on that front. My new M is the same.....very little brake dust and I love it.
