I don't understand why the X kept the same size brakes for '05, now for '06, all models have the larger brakes. And yes Colin, the lack of brake dust is nice, have I mentioned that?

The dusting issue is related to the pad compound. It has nothing to do with rotor size or caliper size. Nissan simply requested a change in the pad compound from their brake vendor.

Interestingly, my 03 doesn't dust much at all, but I do wash the car every 7 to 10 days and I'm not hard on brakes so that might account for something.

Has nothing to do with it, my guess is most of your driving is freeway or highway, I wasn't hard on brakes either, but my '04 still dusted heavily and wore quickly.

Yes, from what I understand, the 05 pads will not fit on an 03. So if you wanted to use the 05 pads, you would have to change parts of the braking system if I am not mistaken. As far as I can tell, the 03 pads still use the old compound. Anyone verify this? So I guess my next step is Hawk or EBC.

Most of my driving is city (90%+) .

Maybe since you had chrome rims on the 04, the dusting was far more noticeable. My rims never get to looking like a BMW or Audi. There's some dust on the rims, but not enough to tint the rim.

Brake Dust

I will do an oil change and talk to the service people at Kings Infiniti to have my pads changed....

I need to have my car washed every week to get rid of the brake dust on my 05 x

I will let you know how I am treated

Mine also had to be replaced at 15k, the dust was really bad, especially after driving in the rain. If I washed my car, and drove, say, 30 miles, I'd use a Swiffer Duster and it would be black, even after two weeks, the '05 has none. And as I posted earlier, I have always gotten a minimum of 40k out of front brakes on every disc brake vehicle I have owned. How big is Overland Park? The BMW's have heavy dust on all 4 wheels, even Explorer's have mucho black on the front wheels.

About 150K people. It's a southern suburb of Kansas City. My daily driving primarily involves Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Leawood, and Kansas City-Missouri.
