Driver's Seat rocking

I started noticing that my driver's seat would rock ever so slightly back and forth during accelerattion and braking. At first I thought it was my imagination, but as the weeks passed it seems to have become more noticable. Has anyone else been experiencing this?

ryoken... I saw your post on Edmunds, maybe you can keep us updated on this board? I'm sure there are others, like myself, who would like to know how Infiniti ultimately solved your seat problem.

Thanks.

They replace the seat brackets. Make sure you call your dealer in advance of your service (at least a week) so they can order the brackets if they don't have them in stock.

Re: Driver's Seat rocking

They replaced my seat bracket. It didn't fix the problem. I took my car in a second time, so they look into the problem, and they (the dealership) were told by Infiniti that it's a known problem, they (Infiniti) are working on a fix for it, and don't waste time and resources trying to repair it until a TSB comes out. So they gave me back my car with a rocking driver's seat.

ryoken,

I think my rocking is getting worse as time goes by...did you notice this or am I imagining this?

Re: Driver's Seat rocking

I too am having the same problem. At first i thought it was just me, but now i'm sure it's rocking. I haven't told my dealer about it yet. I'm coming up for service and i thought i would mention it then. I had searched and didn't find others with the same problem (thought it was just me..). Glad to see i'm not the only one (tho i'd rather all of us not have a problem).

I have a 2003.5 Sedan with 4600 miles on it, about 3 months old.

Ah... my seat rocks, my passenger side window mechanism klunks when it goes up or down and just recently when i filled up my gas tank my gas gauge didn't move all the way up even though the gas tank was full.

Re: Driver's Seat rocking

Oh yeah, I have the same problem...
My seat rocked soon after I purchased it, and my dealer seemed to know what the fix would be. They installed a "lift kit" that seemed to repair it for awhile. On my next visit, they "tightened" down the seat again. However, when I brake hard, especially on an incline, I can definitely still feel the seat shift. It is not that bad, but I feel every nuance in my car and it is real. I am tall, and used to drive with the seat all the way back and down, and I think it shifts worse when the seat is moved all the way back. I have inched if forward a little bit and it helps. I am going in for my 7500 mile service tonight, so I will ask my tech if there is a fix for it yet.
Now to get the popping from the top of my driver's side window fixed. Anyone have that one, too?

Re: Driver's Seat rocking

Mine does it too, but just slightly and not every time. I thought about having it looked at, but it is very minor and on things like this, sometimes by messing around with them just creates new problems and a lot of hassle. If it gets to a point it is moving all over the place, of course, I'll have it looked at, but for now I am waiting for a TSB, since others appear to have wasted some time in trying to have it fixed.

Re: Driver's Seat rocking

Update:

My service guy also said the fix is coming. Infiniti is aware and a TSB should follow...

Re: Driver's Seat rocking

I'm quite sure a TSB is coming. My two concerns are A) when? and B) will it really fix it? Time will tell....

Re: Driver's Seat rocking

One thing I have noticed is that the rocking sensation is progressively worse depending on how far back I have the seat tilted. When the seat is more or less parallel to the floor I do not notice it at all. When I tilt it back more than a fraction is when the rocking feeling begins. It gets worse the greater the angle of tilt I apply.

I think some of it may also be "give" in the seat padding reacting to the body weight distribution changes that occur under acceleration and deceleration. Just my .02 cents.

Re: Driver's Seat rocking

Got mine back yesterday and it is fixed. It took a week and 4 different parts to do it but it is fixed. I went to Pleasanton Infiniti. Most likely the last time as well-got my car back after I called to see if it was ready(had been washed the night before)-has an ant infestation that was not present when I dropped it off on monday and was told it would be ready tuesday at same time. I quite unhappy with them at this point. We'll see if I get a call on monday explaining why the seat was fixed but other stuff was not but maked as completed and my ant problem

Yes, that is the TSB that was done to my car. That is the bracket they replaced. It still rocks. The tech even said it didn't help any. Another TSB is supposed to be coming out "soon."
