hello from an old friend

Hey all. Haven't been here in awhile. Sold the G back in May05 and got a new VW Jetta TDI. Now, with the price of fuel, I am glad I did it. I just had a feeling that the American public was going to get screwed. My turbo diesel is fun to drive but not quick like the G was. However, so far , with 9000 miles on it, I am averaging 39.95 MPG with a 6 speed direct shift gearbox. As we all know, new model year problems seem to be very much the norm and VW is no exception. However, VW of America is very responsive to fixing the problems and I am satisfied with my car. And, you can hardly find them at dealers as they are flying off the lots. I hope Infiniti treats you guys well. I was so pissed at the way they treated me with my 2003 I35 that I almost walked away then. Of course, the dealer gave me a great deal on the 2004 G35 and that helped make up for some of the loss on my 2003 I35 lemon wanna be(dealer said it was defective, Infiniti Consumer services said it was not). Anyway, dealer worked a deal with me and said I would probably get some kind of "courtesy" disbursement from Infiniti Corporate...it never happened. They obviously don't care cause they have tons of business. So, that is why I decided to sell the G. I did not want to do business with a company that really doesn't care about their customers. However, I did enjoy the G driving wise. It had great dynamics and looked good to. I don't miss the 19 MPG. I have actually gotten as high as 52 MPG in the Jetta and have plenty of torque. I may add a chip and bring the torque to about 228 ft lbs. All in good time.

Enjoy your G's. And, screw Infiniti Consumer Services!

Welcome back...yeah the price of gas sucks, but I've cut my expenses elsewhere to help ease the pain. The wife and I carpool, Microbeer has been replaced by Miller High Life and Starbucks fixes have been trimmed back. Glad the VW has been such a good experience.

Glad you're enjoying the new Vdub.

It's funny how experiences can be so different.
I've owned several VW products & had very good results with the cars themselves.

I didn't however, like the stealership experience.....
Felt like they were trying to milk me for all I was worth;
Had many "discussions" about work orders, billing, etc...... (seemed like every visit)
It's what really soured me on the product... I won't go back.

Conversely, my experience with the Infiniti dearlership I use has been great.

How's the DSG box working out?
I'd love to have an SMG/DSG option for the G

My neighbor bought a TDI Jetta at the same time I got my G35. It sounds like *** driving down the street but they do make sense. For a practical car, I would rather buy diesel than a hybrid any day. Hybrids don't make any sense to me. They costs thousands more to buy, don't get any better mpg than diesels, and are going to be hell to maintain with all the extra batteries, computers, and gadgets.
