04 g35x vs 05 g35 sedan

I plan on getting a new car soon and the g35 sedan is on top of my list.
I test drove a 04 g35x and it was very nice but if one had to choose would you pick a 04 g35x or a 05 g35 sedan?

Where i'm at we get snow/rain so i would think the awd would help

and i'm thinkin of getting an auto cause i hate riding the clutch in traffic

so i guess my question is how bad is the rwd sedan in rain/snow?

I would go with the '05. The improvements/added features make the decision simple for me. Now, if the two cars were both '05's, it would be a much tougher decision. Myself, I just bought an '05 auto sedan and I live in Southern Ontario so the AWD was definitely a valid option for me. My reasoning to pass on AWD was that I would just put good snows on my G when the time comes (ie: now!!!). The added stability/grip of snows easily make it safe and mobile in the winter, even though it's only rwd.

So, for your situation, I'd go '05 rwd.

Good luck with your choice.

I agree with Akrus about the improvements on the 05s.
We opted for the 05 AWD though. My wife has to travel out of town a lot and the roads can be very treacherous sometimes with heavy snowfalls and road closures in our area. So for her safety and my peace of mind we got the X. We would do it again.

I think some people underestimate the benefits of AWD. Snow of course, is a legitimate concern. But let's not forget rain.........it rains just about everywhere, and the AWD is very beneficial when it's wet out. Launching in the rain is fun with these cars, but the safety at speeds in the rain is what many forget about.

I'd spring for the 05 AWD if I were you. Good deals out there right now......

I live in Kansas City and we get torential rain in the spring/summer and usually a couple weeks of snow-covered streets. My wife has a 98 Subaru Legacy GT wagon and I've driven it quite a few times through these types of nasty and slick weather. Compared to my old 96 Maxima 5MT, the Legacy owned it in bad weather. Compared to my RWD G35, it's pretty close. The reason being the G has stability control and traction therefore making the car completely driveable and safe in bad weather conditions. Granted I'd rather be driving the Legacy in 4" of snow just for that added stability, but the G35 does just fine. It's just a little to start off the line. With all this technology, it's even possible to make a 400whp Corvette driveable in 3" of snow assuming you put the right tires on.

Dave, agree. Technology has come a long way. There's no doubt, though, that an AWD will be able to push much harder in bad conditions before the technology needs to ascert itself.

I think everyone is missing that his posted options were:

04 G35x and 05 G35

Between the two, I stated that my choice would before the 05. I've yet to own an AWD car, however, all of my vehicles have had snows for as long as I can remember. The snows along with a competent driving style have made my winters horror free.

Now, if the choice posted were between 05 G35 and 05 G35x, like it was 2 months ago when I bought my G, I would still go with the rwd. Why? I just felt that either car was going to require snows, so there was no savings to be had there. Even though we get snow in Southern Ontario, I've been driving in it all my driving life and decided that the added cost just wasn't worthwhile for me.

As far as rain driving goes, I just ensure that I have tires with excellent rain performance, just as I ensure I've got great snows.

i think my eyes are bigger than my wallet or at least i have to be a bit more reasonable with nj insurance n bills n crap

so maybe an 03 which is quite unfortunate beause of the brake changes and excellent options offered in newer years

actually 30k is within 20% of my income for monthly payments so who knows, but i still have to sell 2 cars first
